🎣 Sebastian Inlet District Week of August 10: Mangrove Snapper are running again 🐟 "Mangrove Snapper are running again and anglers are getting hits all over the inlet.  Try fishing from the jetties, catwalks, shorelines, cove and Tdock.  We hear they were biting really good early this morning on low tide. There are also some Spanish Mackerel, Jacks and Blue Runners around.  Your best bet is on the North and South jetties.  Use your little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures to target Spanish Mackerel.  Live shrimp and spoons for Jacks, and pretty much any smaller bait or lure to target Blue Runners. Tommy at Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle tells us he has even seen a few Margates and Flounder anglers have caught in the last few days.  Best bet is West of the bridge to reel in Flounder.  For the Margates use frozen or live shrimp, and they’ll be mainly off the jetties or under the bridge catwalks.  Go see Tommy and he’ll get you set up with all the bait you’ll need and give you an update on the latest action."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-12-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Good morning everyone. We’ve got reasonably calm conditions thru the weekend, so hopefully you can get out there. Fishing for Redfish in the Indian River has been quite good lately. Sight fishing has been difficult due to water conditions, but those fishing live bait and soft plastics have had good fishing. There have also been quite a few Snook around as well to keep things lively. Surf fishing for Snook, Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, and Tarpon has been good as well, with calm conditions and bait around as well. Spoons, swimbaits, and jigs have all been productive. Tides will also get better for morning and evening action as the week goes on, right now late morning and afternoon seem to be the best. Snook fishing in the inlets continue to be good during closed season, and there’s been some Tarpon on outgoing evening tides. Offshore, trolling has been really quiet lately, but Mangrove Snapper fishing has been decent on cut bait, despite some dirtier than normal water conditions. Good luck out there, and stay safe."

🎣 Jacksonville Fishing Report 🐟 Mangrove Madness "Capt. Jeff Wansor said he's catching a lot of keeper mangroves along the ICW. Mud minnows have been the primo bait. Wansor said he's finding pods of reds along the edge of the ditch, which he is catching with finger mullet during the lower-water parts of the tide cycle. The approach is also yielding a nice bycatch. "We're getting a lot of trout. Not a lot of numbers but some decent fish," he said. Wansor said the rain has taken a toll on the water clarity and salinity, and he said the bite in some of the creeks has slowed a bit.  John Eggers said an upside to the rain has been a drop in water temperature. He said the red fish and flounder bite has been OK, while the sea trout bite has been good on drop offs between 10 and 15 feet of water. I received another round of promising bull red reports from the St. Johns River this week, so you've got a Plan B for big fish if you're nearshore plans crumble. Fish cut crab in 40 feet of water and wait for the bite. And please use enough tackle to fight the fish quickly and take care of them once you've landed them."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 August 13, 2020 "The snook and tarpon fishing as been good at the Lake Worth Inlet and the nearby bridges and beaches. Flair Hawk jigs and bigger swimbaits are working great at night, while during the day downsizing your presentation to something like a Vudu Shrimp or a Hyperplastic Dartspin should work well. Big jack crevalle have been spotted cruising around the surf zone and the Lake Worth Inlet. Throw a big piece of metal like a Shimano Coltsniper jig or a big topwater lure to get into them. Little by little, a few early season mullet have been showing up, which is an exciting sign for inshore guys because it means the bulk of them are not far behind. Spinner and blacktip sharks have been jumping along the edges of the flats and channels in the Intracoastal Waterway near the Boynton Inlet."

🎣 Daytona Beach Fishing Report 🐟 Big redfish invading inlet areas "The area is seeing the first signs of the fall mullet run and when there are mullet running, big fish are not far behind. SURF, PIERS: Gene Lytwyn at The Fishin’ Hole said there is one primary catch in these waters. “The surf is still mostly whiting,” he said. “Catch them with pompano rigs, baited with shrimp, sand fleas or Fishbites. Quite a few small sharks are being caught. More tarpon activity is being noticed now that some more mullet are present.” And there’s this report from Flagler County from Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com): “The Flagler Beach Pier this weekend saw a hot mangrove snapper bite at the end of the pier,” he said. “We also got reports of whiting, jacks, flounder, drum and pompano. The surf in Flagler has been alive with whiting, sharks, pompano and the surprise of a few permit. The surf rounds out with black drum redfish and trout.”

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (8/14-8/16/2020) "SURF/PIER Surf fishing, by summer time standards, has been very good this week.  The snook have been cruising the beach in good numbers, along with a few tarpon and big jacks.  Low light periods remain the best for the snook, though high sun can provide good sight fishing opportunities.   For those looking for good action; the croakers, sandperch, and even a pompano or two are biting pieces of shrimp on a bottom rig.  Fair scattering of summertime Spanish Mackerel around; though not in the same numbers we saw over the past week or two.  The Juno Beach Pier snook bite has been a bit off this week, so look for better chances along the beach or in the inlets."

🎣 August 14 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 "Fishing’s been a little quiet, given the recent exodus of 16,000-plus anglers to the Keys for lobster season, with frequent summer thunderstorms piling on. But the catching has been good for those who’ve gone. Offshore trips for red grouper have been pretty good, with catches starting in about 65 feet and improving as you go seaward. Snook, tarpon and redfish like it hot, so no complaints from them. None from Lake Trafford’s crappie anglers, either. We’re talking limits of specks."

🎣 Orlando Area and East Central Lagoon Coast Fishing Forecast 🐟 August 2020  "The heat is on, as fishing opportunities kick in along the Indian River Lagoon Coast of Florida. Looks like its going to be an active season for summer squalls, but as long as they stay away fishing along the beaches and in the inlets will remain equally as hot. The Labrador current (cold water upwelling) as it is known is still holding off this year, but when it arrives it will cool down bottom temperatures and the bottom fishing in some areas along Florida’s east coast. With average bottom water temperatures in the mid-sixties, finding warmer water is the key to locating fish. Studies have shown the phenomena is actually the effect of a prevailing south wind combined with the Coriolis effect pushing the warm surface water offshore and the cold bottom water moving up to replace displaced water, but either way it equates to some tough fishing at times. Look for the blue water bite to improve along the inshore reefs and wrecks of Chris Benson, 8A Reef, and Pelican Flats, with kingfish, dolphin, black fin tuna, and cobia serving as the primary species, along with an occasional wahoo or sailfish. This is also the time of year when cooler waters sometimes push the giant manta rays in close to the shoals off the Cape, bringing cobia with them. Further offshore, the Gulf Stream typically moves in closer making tuna a possibility for smaller boats, and as long as the summer squalls stay away, running to the other side of the stream isn’t out of the question."

🎣 Captain Greg's Fishing Report 🐟 August 2020 "August Near Shore Fishing Forecast: Tropical storm Isaias will have the water clarity wrecked for any hopes of live bait trolling the beach for kings and the occasional cobia so unless we have no more storm activity for the next month you will have to wait another year for that awesome fishery. August is a great month for Tarpon. Live pogies drifted back over the shoal will be a sure bet for anyone wanting to have a blast trying to tame these awesome fish. Finding the live bait might be a challenge but once you have the bait it is just a numbers game from there on out. 50lb fluro leader with a 5/0 circle hook free lined back is all you need. You will have some bluefish and sharks to weed through but eventually that tarpon will find you. Goliath grouper are another awesome fish we have in August that are perfect targets for anglers who just want to see if they have what it takes to tame the beast. Use any giant live or dead bait along any structure inside of 10 miles and you have a great chance at goliath grouper."

Inshore the snook and trout bite was ok to the north around Harbor Branch for the few that got out with a few tarpon around in the inlet. The weather should be nice the rest of the week hopefully you can get out."

🎣 Sebastian Inlet Week of August 3 🐟  Mangrove Snapper, Reds, Spanish Mackerel, Jacks and Blue Runners "Tommy tells us that fishing has been decent, but not great as we head into high summer.  The one constant is our summertime Mangrove Snapper and there are lots around to be had.  Use small live shrimp or greenies to target them, and try fishing from the T-dock or the north shoreline by the tide pool. Red Drum can be found throughout the inlet system too and usually hit better on the outgoing tide.  Use your live shrimp or cut bait.  Spanish Mackerel, Jacks and Blue Runners have been coming over the rails on the jetties.  Try the South jetty for now.  Spanish Mackerel will hit on little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures.  Blue Runners will bite on a variety of smaller baits and lures, and Jacks seem to prefer live shrimp and spoons.  Tommy tells us there have even been a few large Cubera Snapper hanging around.  Try the North jetty when it reopens.  Anglers are still seeing a lot of Snook too, but please remember they are catch and release only until the season opens again in a few short weeks on September 1."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-5-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Good morning everyone. By the looks of the damage done in North Carolina up into the Northeast that we dodged a bullet from Isaias. Surf conditions have calmed down, but the water is still pretty dirty in most places, and seaweed is gone from some areas, but others are unfishable due to the weeds. Hopefully with a few days of calm conditions things will clear up. The Indian River has received quite a bit of runoff, making it even dirtier than it was, but those fishing the outflows of culverts and relief canals have had success with Snook and baby Tarpon. The inlets are producing Snook at night on flare jigs, as well as Tarpon on jigs and plugs on outgoing tide. Offshore has been quiet, but as things are calming down things should resume, as the Kingfish bite was pretty good before the storm. Good luck out there."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 Palm Beach Post August 6, 2020 "Where the sargassum isn’t too thick, anglers at the beach on Singer Island are catching snook and the occasional tarpon working Livetarget Slow-Roll on a weighted hook. Surf anglers working the beaches just south of the Boynton Inlet have been catching barracuda on tube lures and tarpon using 3.5 inch Yo-Zuri lures that mimic either pilchards or sardines. At the Boynton Inlet there have been a few mangrove snapper caught as well as snook and tarpon on live baits. Tarpon up to 100 pounds have been seen rolling in the channel in the Intracoastal Waterway between the Boynton Inlet and the Palm Beach Yacht Center. Anglers at the Lantana Bridge are catching some nice sheepshead on peeled shrimp and clam strips. Sand perch and small mangrove snappper are being caught at the bridge on live and peeled shrimp."

🎣 Daytona Beach Fishing Report 🐟 Catches before, after tropical storm "The tropical storm slowed, but didn’t stop, anglers from getting out on the water and reeling in a variety of fish. SURF, PIERS: This week’s surf report comes from Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com). “The surf has been hot for whiting, jacks and pompano,” he said. “The shark bite off of Flagler beaches is still red hot. And just this reminder: get your shark permit if fishing for these great game fish. The permit is no cost to get yet if caught without one the price is high. The surf is also producing redfish, black drum and trout.” The piers report catches of whiting with jacks, a few pompano and trout mixed in.”

🎣 Jacksonville Fishing Report 🐟 Bouncing back after Isaias hangover "While Hurricane Isaias was barely felt on land in Jacksonville, the big, albeit short-lived swell it created off our coast put the brakes on some hot coastal fishing. The dust has settled enough to allow local charter captains to take a peek in the ocean, and what they saw was a mixed bag. The good news: there's a ton of bait on the beach and in the inlet. However, the water was dirty, and the bite was dead. Since the bait is still around, you'd have to think the fishing will pick up after the nearshore water cleans up. Until then, there's plenty of redfish, trout and flounder to catch in the St. Johns River and the ditch. The weekend forecast is looking mild for a change. NOAA is calling for light south winds and seas between one and two feet."

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (8/7-8/9/2020)  "SURF/PIER Catch and release snook fishing has been good along the beach, at the Juno Beach Pier, and in Jupiter and Palm Beach Inlets as well.  Look for the snook bite to be really good at night on the backside of the moon.  The inlet bite will be best on the tides; and heavily bait dependent.  For the inlet snook it's all about the croakers and sand perch.  The Spanish Mackerel have been biting well at the Juno Beach Pier.  Small Clark Spoons below a bobber rig are a great choice for the Macs, as is free-lining small live baits.  A handful of big jacks cruising the beach, along with a few tarpon.  The Juno Beach Pier has seen a few Bonita as well over the past week.  Jupiter Inlet is producing a few mangrove snapper.  Fair number of croaker and sand perch are biting small pieces of shrimp in the first trough."

🎣 St Augustine Fishing Report 🐟 Snook, tarpon are red hot "The tarpon bite continues to be as good as most anglers can remember this year. Most of the fishing is just inside or just outside of either of our inlets. They’re also following the shrimp boats, gorging on bycatch shoveled off the decks. There were two strange and similar reports of kingfish being caught in 10 to 12 feet of water off the beaches this week. And both captains insist they’ve never seen so many kingfish skyrocketing at any given moment. The kingfish fishing on the local reefs and wrecks has been pretty slow all week, so the beaches will likely be your best bet. That is especially true around the Nine-Mile bottom where sharks are killing more kingfish and cobia than are making into ice chests. It is a slaughter out there."

🎣 August 7 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 "If you’re looking for a lazy, hazy, summer day, don’t throw a line in the water. You’ll likely end up all tired and sweaty. Snook and redfish are biting so well, they’re even hitting red mangrove seeds. Really. Beach fishing is producing tripletail in the surf at Venice, and nearshore anglers report big permit and limits of mangrove snapper in as little as 30 feet of water. Bluegill and bass have been biting well on Lake Okeechobee, and Lake Trafford waters have risen enough to support a bass boat tournament."

Our featured angler of the week is 11-year old Dierks Broderick Delaney.  He caught this 34-inch Snook on the south side of Sebastian Inlet State Park near the T-dock – his FIRST Snook ever early in the morning on July 7.  Way to go Dierks!  “To date this is the largest fish he has ever caught.  He is super excited and can’t wait to go again.” We understand this fish was safely released and a friendly reminder to all that Snook is catch and release only right now with the season set to open on Sept 1.

😎 What divers can expect during 48-hour mini-season sprint to bag spiny lobster "Florida’s annual 48-hour sprint for spiny lobsters — the lobster sport season — begins at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. Tens of thousands of lobster lovers will hit the state’s warm coastal waters seeking seafood gold. What kind of conditions will they find once they dip below the waves? Will the weather be calm or will it storm? And the most important question on the minds of divers: Where will the tasty little crustaceans be found in numbers large enough to satisfy bag limits? Calm seas “The good news is,” said Steven Wood, manager of Deep Six Dive & Watersports in Jensen Beach, “the easterly wind we had all last week finally quit blowing. That should allow the shallow waters closer to the beach to clear up.”

🎣 Jacksonville Fishing Report 🐟 It’s tarpon time "In this week’s Jacksonville Fishing Report, read about where to find pogies out of Mayport and the red-hot bite for redfish and trout It’s officially time for bow hunters to take a break from fishing to prepare for the fast approaching archery deer season, even though working in those hot pines and hellish swamps will feel like a stint in prison camp. But with the fishing this good, maybe all that fun can wait another week. Inshore fishing is about as good as it gets in the heat of summer, with a number of big trout and eating-sized flounder being caught. And after dealing with a sassy ocean and shy bait last week, nearshore anglers caught a break this week with the return of pogies and flat seas."

🎣 Fishing Report 🐟 Daytona Beach anglers catching a bit of everything "Local anglers are reporting a real potpourri of fish this week, from flounder to large redfish and everything in between. SURF, PIERS: Gene Lytwyn at The Fishin’ Hole said surf fishing in Volusia County is producing good catches of whiting, along with a few sharks and small pompano. “Some anglers are getting double digit catches of whiting per outing,” he said. Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com) had much the same report from Flagler County. “The Flagler Beach Pier is seeing a good whiting bite and reports of a king or two off the end of the pier,” he said. “The surf in the Flagler Beach area is producing mainly good sized whiting and sharks.”"

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 Palm Beach Post July 30, 2020 "Along the beaches in the Jensen/Stuart areas there has been good action for whiting and croaker. Using either sand fleas or sand flea- or green crab-flavored Fishbites in the first trough has been producing good results. Though not huge numbers there have been some pompano caught along the beaches in the first trough as well. They are being taken mostly on sand flea-flavored Fishbites. At the St. Lucie Inlet there has been a good bite for snook using live pilchards. Though working the beach in the Jupiter area has been a bit difficult with all the sargassum recently, for those willing to try there are plenty of snook cruising along the shoreline. Swimbaits like an Assassin, worked in the first trough have been producing good results. Anglers fishing both inside and outside the jetties at the Lake Worth Inlet are catching snook, tarpon and jack crevalle. Working along the rocks, the snook are being caught using D.O.A. CALs. Though the bite there has been good, divers in the area have reported large numbers of them outside of the inlet in 30 to 60 feet of water. The jacks have been hitting on small live greenies and on topwater plugs like Rapala Skitter Walks. Though much of the bait that had been prevalent in the area three or four weeks ago has moved north to Juno Beach and beyond, the approaching storm should stir things up and get some of that moving back into the central part of coastal Palm Beach County and could even drive some bait up from the keys."

🎣 July 31 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 "With some 16,000 lobster permit holders from Southwest Florida vacationing in the Florida Keys, there should be plenty of elbow room on local waters. Plenty of fish biting, too. Amberjack season reopens on Saturday, and as of Thursday the National Weather Service predicts weekend morning winds of only 5 to 10 knots offshore, with this caveat. “Mariners planning extended trips should monitor forecasts and warnings from the National Hurricane Center, as Tropical Storm Isaias could impact the area this weekend. The crappie are biting on Lake Trafford in Immokalee, and the lake level finally has risen about six inches, making launching possible for craft up to small-bass-boat size.”

🎣 St Augustine FISHING REPORT 🐟 Isaias scrubs weekend fishing "Offshore trolling continues to be a sucker’s bet. But the bottom fishing is hot with good numbers of vermillion, mutton and mangrove snapper being caught. There are still big amberjack out there and a good number of sharks. The local reefs and wrecks inside 10 miles are tough to fish because of the similarly ubiquitous red snapper. Trolling for kingfish has slowed, which is normally the case as August nears. Sharks, on the other hand, are... well hate to say it, but ubiquitous as well. Captain Guy Spear had two kingfish on ice and gave up six to sharks. They also ate a legal-sized cobia at the boat, adding insult to injury. If you really want to find them, slow-troll the middle ground around Nine-Mile. There are plenty of pogy pods up around Serenata, and heading north. Tarpon are thinning out at the mouths of both the St. Augustine and Matanzas Inlets. Some big ones are being chummed up around the Bridge of Lions. Surf fishing is summertime slow now. There are a few reports of bull whiting scattered in the surf, but none of the reports included any real numbers. The county pier is still giving up ribbonfish, but not much else. The report from the Flagler County pier includes redfish, trout, flounder, sheepshead, undersized pompano, and whiting."

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (7/31-8/2/2020)  "SURF/PIER Snook fishing has been good along the beach; but conditions this weekend will make that shall we say a little rough. The Juno Beach Pier snook bite could go off this weekend depending on how the storm comes by.  Snook bite could go off on jigs and swimbaits.  The Spanish Mackerel bite has been good this week.  Freelining small live baits or the bobber rig have been the way to go for the Macs."

🎣 FLORIDA TODAY fishing report 🐟 Lobster mini-season closes; Redfish are schooling in the north "The grass came and the grass left. Thank goodness. Sargassum seaweed can just ruin surf fishing plans. The super low tides and wind shift can be credited for helping out. Anglers will be able to catch (and release) snook, croaker, whiting and maybe even a few pompano casting from the sand bar. The low tide has made it so anglers can walk out to some of the sand bars." Although another article states (dated July 27, 2020) "Washed-up Sargassum seaweed sometimes wreaks havoc and reeks; expect it for next several weeks" 

We ran into heavy Sargassum last weekend at Patrick Air Base 2nd Light Beach, up into Cape Canaveral, but the salad thinned travelling north by New Smyrna Beach.

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 7-21-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Good Morning, Offshore the last few days was slow with a few kings and sails around to the south off the power plant with live bait in 80 to 100ft with a few cobia mixed in. The wind looks like it will stick around the next few days hopefully it will calm back down for the weekend. Inshore the trout bite has been steady to the north on soft baits around first light with a few redfish mixed in. The snapper bite along the channel and bridges has been good with live shrimp and white baits. The snook fishing has been steady in the inlet on the outgoing tide with live bait remember its catch and release till September 1st."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 7-22-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Good morning everyone. With the windier conditions we currently have, the Indian River may be your best bet. Decent Seatrout catches have been caught on soft plastics and shrimp, and even top water action if you can find a lee. The early birds are also finding some cooperative baby tarpon in the usual spots like the Sebastian River, Grand Harbor, and others, as well as some Snook. The beaches have been pretty unfishable, with plenty of weed along the east coast to go along with the rougher conditions, but hopefully calmer conditions for the weekend will lead to some better fishing. The inlets have been yielding pretty good numbers of Snook, but please remember that the season is closed thru next month. Offshore is obviously pretty bumpy, but for those heading out there have been Kingfish and a few Sailfish being caught south of Ft. Pierce Inlet in 80′ to 100′ of water. Good luck out there."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 July 23, 2020 Palm Beach Post "Working the seawalls using top-water plugs, anglers in the St. Lucie and Indian Rivers are having a blast catching jack crevalle. Many have been big and are ready to fight. When asked how big they were one shop owner joked “We measure them in fight time. You’ve got 10-minute, 30-minute, even an hour.” He said there had been lots of 30-minute ‘jack attacks’ recently. There have been snook caught working the dock lights at night. Black drum are being caught along the bridges using shrimp on a jig head. There is good snook action at the Jupiter Inlet and up into the Loxahatchee River. At the Boynton Inlet there are still lots of snook and tarpon congregating near the north jetty during the incoming tide. Most of the snook are around 80 yards east of the jetty while the snook are rolling near the color change."

🎣 St Augustine FISHING REPORT 🐟 Mythical flounder and a white shark, too  "One of the better guides in the area, Tommy Derringer, reports that tarpon fishing is the best he’s ever seen. We talked last week about the tarpon behind the shrimp boats, but it’s been too rough this week to try that. Tommy’s been jumping all he can handle in the Matanzas Inlet, and releasing two or three a day (it’s a long way between hooking and landing a tarpon). There are also good numbers of small tarpon in the creeks down around Matanzas - from 10 to 20 pounds. There may be no better slice of the fishing pie than hooking these baby tarpon on light spinning outfits. It’s fast, furious and an aerial display. Try it. Tommy said they’re hitting live shrimp. With all the hoopla of the short snapper season over, most of the guides are getting back to targeting kingfish. It’s been rough fishing off the beach, and too windy to really work the local reefs and wrecks. That may continue for another few days. The good news is pogies showed up again north of the St. Augustine Inlet. And the guys in Flagler Beach say huge schools are making their way north this week. That’s good news for the Kingfish Challenge this weekend"

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (7/24-7/26/2020) "SURF/PIER-  Rough conditions (by summertime standards) and lots of seaweed had the surf bite a little tough this week.  Those willing to fight through the weeds found a decent snook bite.  The snook are in both Jupiter and Palm Beach Inlets in good numbers.  The Juno Beach Pier has had good snok action, with a handful of tarpon around as well.  Good number of Spanish Mackerel around the pier over the past few days.  The bobber rig or crappie jig have been the best bets for the macs."

🎣 July 24 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 "With thousands of Southwest Florida lobster divers headed to the Florida Keys for the annual sport season, next Wednesday and Thursday, local waters will be full of fish, but not fishermen. Think about the possibility of catching snook, redfish, tarpon and permit all in one day. They’ve been biting in Charlotte Harbor. For food fish, Saturday, July 25 is the last day of the open season for red snapper, offshore, where red grouper and lane snapper also will fill the bill o’ fare. LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Bradley Lytle of Roland Martin Marine Center in Clewiston reports bluegills still biting, but more scattered along Observation Shoal, the Rim Canal and Ritta Island, after the recent new moon. Dunk crickets or cast ultralight spinnerbaits for great action and fish fries."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 7-13-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Offshore over the weekend the snapper bite was good for those who got out and caught a few fish . The mangrove bite has been steady with a few big fish around at night live bait has produced the best. The sail bite is still steady to the north around St. Lucie inlet with live bait with a few cobia around. The kingfish bite has been ok with a bunch of 10 to 12lb fish around. Inshore the snook bite has been ok in the inlet and around the bridges with live bait remember its catch and release till September 1st. The beach fishing has been good with the glass minnows around find the bait and you will find the snook and tarpon with a few big tarpon around. The snapper bite has been steady in the river to with live shrimp and white baits."

🎣 Week of July 13 Sebastian Inlet District 🐟 Spanish Mackerel, Mangrove Snapper, and Red Drum around "Anglers tell us there have been a lot of Spanish Mackerel out there, mainly around the jetties.  Use your little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures to target them. We hear there has also been some good action with Mangrove Snapper.  You’ll find these guys throughout the inlet system and backwaters so try fishing the different areas in Sebastian Inlet State Park.  Best bait to use to use, live shrimp. Tommy tells us there’s also been Red Drum, Jacks and some Pompano around.  He’s even seen a few big Permit come over the rails of the North Jetty, hitting on large, live shrimp that can be more difficult to find this time of year. Red Drum are hitting on live shrimp too, same for the Permit or crab if you can find it.  Jacks prefer live bait and Pompano love sand fleas.  Seems like incoming tide in the afternoon has been ideal, but the fishing has been good on the outgoing tide in the morning as well.  Go see Tommy at Sebastian Inlet Bait & Tackle and he’ll get you all set up.  Plus he’ll give you the latest on the action at the different fishing spots at the inlet."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 7-15-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Summertime’s weather pattern is in full effect, with calm conditions in the morning, giving way to thunderstorms in the afternoon. The surf fishing has been good for Snook, with plenty of activity even in the middle of the day. Small Hogy Paddle Tails, DOA CALs, plugs, jigs, and flies have all been effective. Most of the bait on the beaches has been Pilchards and Threadfin Herring ( greenies ). Sharks have also been pretty active, Tarpon activity has been sporadic. The Indian River has also been an early morning activity, with midday water temps making things a bit slow. Some nicer Redfish and some Seatrout activity has rewarded those on the water early. Offshore, Mangrove Snapper fishing has been good, and the Kingfish bite has been steady north of Fort Pierce Inlet. Sailfish have been caught in the Stuart area regularly as of late. Snook fishing at the inlets has been so so of late, but the stronger tides coming with the new moon may spur some activity. Good luck out there!"

🎣 Daytona Beach News Journal Fishing Report: Right now, it’s all about red snapper 🐟 "SURF, PIERS: Lytwyn said surf fishing has become spotty. “Mostly whiting and occasional small shark,” he said. “Piers are holding a couple of black drum and redfish along with a few flounder back underneath the pilings.” Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com) reporting from Palm Coast said the pier was the focus of fishing in Flagler. “The Flagler Beach Pier is producing drum, redfish, whiting, trout and a few kings,” he said, adding those getting their feet wet fishing off the sand were nabbing whiting, occasional pompano, small sharks, trout, flounder and black drum."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 Palm Beach Post July 16, 2020 "There have also been snook along the beaches and up into the Loxahatchee River. In the river, working the docks and seawalls with a top water plug is working, while along the beaches live bait or lures resembling bait are proving effective. Along the beaches on Jupiter Island and north there have been a few tarpon. At the Boynton Inlet, there have been tons of snook and some huge tarpon just off the north jetty in the clear water during the incoming tide. Tarpon have also been rolling in the channel inside the inlet in the Intracoastal Waterway. Surf anglers are catching barracuda, snook, tarpon and palometa in the early mornings between the Boynton Inlet and the Lake Worth Pier. Cut shrimp on pompano rigs is working for the palometa, one- to three-ounce Gator or Krocodile spoons for the snook and tarpon and red or green Tube lures are working for barracuda. Anglers around the Lantana Bridge have been catching a few sand perch, small mangrove snapper and catfish on shrimp."

🎣 Florida mask mandate 🐟 All lobster divers will wear them during mini-season, July 29-30  "At least tens of thousands of Floridians and visitors will wear a scuba or snorkel mask July 29-30. That's because it's spiny lobster sport season in Florida waters. Dollars to donuts, whoever wants to harvest a lobster will probably wear an underwater mask. And there won't be any griping. It will be one of the few times since March that tens of thousands of Floridians and visitors will be in agreement. Another bonus will be fewer protests and sign waving on street corners. Many will flock to boat ramps to get offshore to find their limit of bugs."

🎣 St Augustine FISHING REPORT 🐟 Signs look good for shrimp season Atlantic Florida East Coast Fishing: "The kingfish and sharks are on the local wrecks and reefs, but pogies are so scarce it’s tough to get them up to bite. One captain told me yesterday he tossed the net in Salt Run for more than two hours and finally headed out to fish with eight live mullet. Another reported running all the way up to the Jacksonville Pier and not seeing a pogy pod. Just got an update from a Jax charter captain who said pogy pods were thick in 20 feet of water off the old Sea Turtle, if you’re heading north. At any rate, if you really need to fish offshore this weekend it would be a good one to miss, with the Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament underway. I can’t imagine what it’s like out there today with that and the snapper opening together. Surf fishing is summertime slow. It’s uber-weird, but there are still reports of legal pompano being caught in the surf here and there. The pomps like water temperatures in the high 60 or low 70s and the surf temperature was 85 yesterday. A few whiting are being caught along with ladyfish, catfish and baby sharks. The shrimp boats are providing most of the action for both sharks and tarpon. Their bycatch becomes a floating cafeteria of dead fish and other critters and is a siren’s song for both species. The action is pretty fast, and blackfin tuna are nothing to sneeze at when bled well and thrown on a hot grill."

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (7/17-7/19/2020)  "Surf, Pier: Catch and release snook fishing remains Overall its tough fishing inshore right now.  very good along the beach, at the Juno Beach Pier, and in both Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlet right now.  Lots of different (from heavy tackle live bait battles, light tackle sight fishing, and plenty of ways in between) ways to catch them right now, so feel free to come by the shop and get the rundown on some of your different options.  Look for the snook to be most active early in the morning, late afternoon, or at night.  If you have to fish during the day, try and time it with the last of the incoming or first of the outgoing tide.  The surf has been producing a few big jacks early in the morning, but not huge numbers of them.  Still a fair number of tarpon around, but not as many as they are seeing up north.  Fair number of croaker and sandperch hanging around in the first trough.  Scattering of Spanish Mackerel around over the past week."

🎣 Jacksonville Fishing Report 🐟 Kingfish tournament, red snapper season, and a decent inshore bite. "This week’s Jacksonville Fishing Report features results from the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament undercard events, a recap of red snapper season, and encouraging news about inshore fishing. Thanks to the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament and our brief red snapper season, offshore fishing has been getting a lot of attention lately. But despite those oceanic distractions and the hellish heat, there’s been a great inshore bite this week. Black drum, flounder and trout have been providing the best action, although the redfish aren’t far behind. The key during the summer is to get out early and look for fish in deeper water once the sun comes up. Last weekend might have been the busiest of the year, and the next few days should rival the turnout. Thursday is the first day of the Great Jacksonville Kingfish General Tournament, and Friday will be both final day of that contest and this year’s four-day red snapper season. The weekend forecast calls for a steady, yet reasonable easterly wind to blow until we return to work Monday. The ocean should stay tame enough, although the wave period will grow shorter - choppier, in other words - as the weekend progresses."

🎣 July 17 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 Here a snook, there a snook, everywhere a snook nook: Catch 'em now from back country creeks to bay flats, to nearshore reefs and wrecks.  "LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Roland Martin Marina Capt. Jose Betancourt may have enjoyed watching Logan Grandio laugh and scream through a morning filled with bass and bluegills as the Tennessee youngster had catching them. They started throwing frog baits and watermelon/red Flukes on the East Wall for bass, and ended up casting Beetlespins for bream along Observation Shoal. Bradley Lytle of Roland Martin's Marine Center in Clewiston also reports good bass fishing along the Shoal, on the north shore in the Tin House Cove area, and in Pelican Bay near Belle Glade. For bluegills dunk crickets or throw tiny spinnerbaits on ultralight spin around Rim Canal lily pads or along reed lines on the Shoal."

The kingfish bite has been steady to the north with a bunch of small fish with a few good ones mixed in. The snapper bite has been ok during the day and at night with some nice mangroves around with both live and dead bait. Looks like the weather will be good the next few days hopefully you can get out before the storms. Inshore the trout bite has been steady around first light with a few reds mixed in soft baits and top water have produce well. The snook bite has been good in the inlet and the bridges on the outgoing tide remember season is closed so its catch and release till September."

🎣 Week of July 6 Sebastian Inlet District 🐟 Mangrove Snapper are running! "Tommy at Sebastian Inlet Bait & Tackle tells the fishing has really picked up.  Mangrove Snapper are running throughout the inlet and in the backwaters hitting on their favorite bait, live shrimp.  You have your choice of fishing spots at the Park to target these guys from land. Spanish Mackerel have been running pretty good too we hear.  They are biting on little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures.  Your best bet – try the North and South jetties. We have been getting reports of massive Red Drum, again throughout the inlet system, with a few smaller keepers in between.  Use live shrimp here too and please remember your bag and size limits."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 7-8-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "The calm conditions continue, with early morning west winds making the surf look like a lake. Bait on the beaches includes Pilchards, Threadfin Herring ( greenies ), glass minnows, and croakers. Snook activity is picking up in many places, with some really solid fish being caught. Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, sharks, and Tarpon are also getting in on the action. Inshore, the afternoon rains and heat have combined to make much of the water dirty, but Snook and baby Tarpon are being caught around culverts and outflows, but fish early or late to avoid the heat. Offshore, Sailfish activity has been about as good as its been all year, with some good numbers being put up by several boats, on both live bait and trolled ballyhoo. The inlets continue to produce good Snook catches, but remember that the season is closed."

🎣 Daytona Beach News Journal Fishing Report 🐟 Locals bring in big hauls as summer heats up  "The fish are biting up and down the coast, and locals can’t reel them in fast enough. Surf Piers: Roy Mattson (royssurffishing.com) said they’ve been seeing smaller pompano along the beach, redfish in the inlet, and flounder along the reef and pier. Capt. Mike Vickers, meanwhile, filed this report from Flagler. “The surf from Flagler beach to Matanzas inlet has been producing good numbers of whiting, a few flounder, trout, black drum, reds, and tarpon.”

🎣 Florida Today Red snapper season 🐟 Florida's east coast anglers need to know 2 new federal regulations  "Red snapper season will be short and sweet along the U.S. Atlantic Coast this year — just four days. Anglers can keep the popular fish on July 10, 11, 12 and 17 before being relegated back to releasing the red snapper they catch. Any angler who has fished for them during such brief seasons over the past 10 years is aware of the typical regulations in federal waters, which begin three miles offshore: No size limit Bag limit of one red snapper per angler per day Non-stainless steel circle hooks (offset or non-offset) required when using hook-and-line gear with natural baits in waters north of 28 degrees north latitude. The 28th parallel north runs through Palm Bay, Florida. The regulations were designed so anglers would not fish an entire school trying to catch the biggest one. The idea is to catch one red snapper per angler, then go fish for another species somewhere else"

🎣 Jacksonville Fishing Report 🐟 Red snapper season is (almost) here. "In this week’s Jacksonville Fishing Report, read about what you need to know heading into this year’s red snapper season. The circus returns to Mayport on Friday, the long-awaited opener of this year’s four-day red snapper season. The season runs from July 10th to July 12 and will reopen for the final day on July 17. You’re now required to register for a free State Reef Fish Angler endorsement from FWC if you will be bottom fishing. And starting July 15, bottom anglers will also be required to have a descending device on their boat. Snapper have been abundant on local reefs this summer, even on the public inshore numbers. The hard part will be finding a parking spot at the boat ramps, even for boaters not participating in the highly popular season. If your boat doesn’t live at a marina, you better wake up early this weekend. Surf anglers have been catching lots of big whiting and a few nice pompano during the last week, said Spencer Brogden. It can be easy to overlook surf fishing during the summer, but last week proved you don’t have to go far to fill the cooler."

🎣 St Augustine FISHING REPORT 🐟 Snapper madness on tap for the weekend "The Atlantic Of course the big news here is the opening of a four-day red snapper season starting today. It runs today, Saturday and Sunday and one extra day July 17 — next Friday.
If you wonder why we have only four days a year to target red snapper, join the club. It should be noted here that Florida’s Gulf Coast will enjoy a 45-day season this year. The fish stocks are similar, but the Gulf waters are ruled by a different federal group than the Atlantic. That’s really just the beginning of the idiocy handed down by our South Atlantic Fish Management Council (and oxymoron if ever there was one). They’ve also come up with some new regulations for this year’s snapper season, but have done little to advertise the brand-spankin’ new rules thus far. They might be better termed “traps.”" Worth your time to visit the link to St Augustine to read the breakdown of traps. They list a make believe line around Palm Beach needing to fish only non stainless offset circle hooks on private boats. 🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (7/10-7/12/2020) "Surf Pier-  The main game in town right now along the beach and at the pier will be snook.  For the most part live croakers and sandperch will be the best bet for the snook (especially the bigger ones).  Don't overlook a chunk of dead bait as an option for the snook as well.  If your into throwing lures for the snook a small paddletail or bucktail jig is good during the day.  At night throw bigger swimbaits and flair hawk jigs for best results.  North of Jupiter Inlet the tarpon are still around in good numbers.  They are still hanging around the minnow schools for the most part and remain locked on smaller baits.  Hogy paddletails remain a great lure choice around the minnow schools.  A handful of Spanish Mackerel around, as well as good numbers of blue runners in the surf as well."

🎣 July 10 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 It's hot, to no one's surprise. Somewhat surprisingly, the extreme heat and lack of rain haven't put the big chill on fishing prospects "LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Roland Martin's Marine Center in Clewiston reports bass biting well along Observation Shoal, around  Tin House Cove on the north shore, and in Pelican Bay at the Big O's southeast corner. Fish Kissimmeegrass and reed lines early with white or clear Spooks, and go to watermelon red, junebug or black/blue flake Senkos or Speed Worms as the sun rises. Swimbaits in Houdini, Lane Toad and White Lightning patterns also have been productive. Then again, nothing beats a live wild shiner, as Kansan Hunter Leonard found out on his trip with Roland Martin Marina Capt. Mark King. For bluegills, dunk crickets or cast black/chartreuse Beetle Spins along the Shoal, Ritta Island, or around lily pad patches along the Rim Canal. A large bloom of bluegreen algae has been concentrated in the northern half of the lake, but waters along the south end have been clear this week."
