🎣 Sebastian Inlet District Week of August 24: Mangrove Snapper and Snook Season Countdown 🐟  "Mangrove Snapper are around to be had all day long.  They’ll hit on live shrimp and you’ll find them throughout the inlet system so try your hand at fishing from different spots.  There have been some Jacks and Spanish Mackerel coming over the rails on the jetties.  Jacks will hit on live shrimp and spoons, and break out your little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures to target the Spanish Mackerel. We hear it seems to be better on the outgoing tide and Tommy recommends trying earlier or later in the day as your best bet"

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-24-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Offshore over the weekend the dolphin bite was good with a few fish around in 80 to 100ft with a few scattered sails mixed in live bait produced the best. The kingfish bite was steady on the reef with a few nice fish in the 30lb range with a few scattered wahoo around on the reef to. The next few days looks like the wind will stick around hopefully it will calm down near the end of the week. Inshore the redfish bite has been good the to the north live mullet and top waters have produced well. The snook bite has been good around the bridges and the inlet with jigs and live bait remember its catch and release till September 1st. It should be a good season. The trout bite has been steady with a few fish around the powerplant soft baits have produce well."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-26-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida  "Conditions are improving, with diminishing winds and wave heights soon to make surf and offshore fishing more productive. Prior to the wind and waves offshore fishing was pretty solid, with good numbers of Kingfish caught in 80′ of water, with some Wahoo, Sailfish, and Dolphin thrown in as well, all in close at 80′ . The surf is still pretty dirty, with some sea weed thrown in for good measure, but calmer conditions to come should clean it up quickly. Before the winds there were good numbers of Snook, Tarpon, Spanish Mackerel, and other species were up and down the beaches, which should show up again, especially if the much anticipated mullet run begins. The inlets continue to produce Snook, but live bait has been more productive, and Mangrove Snapper have been caught on Pilchards in the Fort Pierce Inlet and nearby bridges as well. The Indian River is still fairly dirty overall, but decent numbers of Seatrout are being caught in some of the cleaner areas closer to the inlets on soft plastics, and Snook and baby Tarpon fishing in the early AM has still been productive as well."

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (8/28-8/30/2020) "SURF/PIER-  Rougher weather earlier in the week had the Juno Beach Pier fishing fired up pretty good.  With the conditions right snook were biting jigs and swimbaits in the surf good.  The Spanish Mackerel have also been around in good numbers at the pier.  Crappie Jigs and small swimming plugs are a great choice for the macs.  Heard some good reports this week of croakers showing back up around the pier.  Snook season is right around the corner...as usual the pier will be a good spot to start the search for a keeper.  Scattered reports of some mullet schools north of Jupiter...won't be long now before we start seeing some good numbers of mullet on the beach.  A few scattered pompano reports this week.  A little early for the pompano, but a east wind always seems to push a few in."

🎣 Daytona Beach Fishing Report 🐟 Burly bull redfish take over inlet waters "Anglers are catching burly redfish around the inlets, plus legal-sized snook here and there. Snook season opens Monday. Surf Piers Gene Lytwyn at The Fishin’ Hole said surf fishing has picked up dramatically over the last week. “Surf and pier fishing has remained good with nice catches of whiting,” he said. “Tarpon, sharks and jacks have been seen chasing bait in the surf. A few sea trout, black drum and redfish have been caught on the piers.” Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com) had this to add about fishing in Flagler. “The Flagler Beach Pier was hot until the wind and current picked up over the weekend,” he said. “The bite was whiting, pompano and black drum. As the winds die down this pattern should continue. The surf in Flagler County is still producing a strong whiting bite even with the wind, and the sharks do not mind it at all with several over 5-feet being caught. The surf rounds out with reds, drum, pompano, flounder, tarpon, and a few sheepshead around the rocks in the Hammock Beach area thru Marineland.”

🎣 FLORIDA TODAY fishing 🐟 Snook season opens Sept. 1   "The Space Coast should see good weather for all types of fishing. Snook are everywhere, but will probably hard to find Sept. 1 when harvest opens."

🎣 August 28 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟  "Fishing activity has been pretty quiet, especially offshore, given the threat of hurricanes. But back bay anglers who have gone out have been coming home with some pretty big smiles. Redfish have been coming out of the woodwork, and snook are biting in double-digit numbers, and poundage. Looking for fish fry fixin’s? Think about rounding up some bluegill, or even a couple of peacock bass. It can’t get too hot for peacocks to bite. LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Roland Martin Marina and Resort manager Ramon Iglesias reports bass biting really well along Observation Shoal and on the “walls” outside Clewiston. The largemouths are hunkered inside the grass lines, where a Big EZ or Speed Worm in junebug or black-and-blue , or a white frog or Spook is the ticket early. A 6-inch stick worm like a Gambler Fat Ace or Senko in the same dark colors, including watermelon red, is the way to go the rest of the day. For those fish fry fixin’s, there’s the possibility of a limit of bluegills, or unlimited exotic cichlids for anglers working the Shoal with Beetlespins, crickets or red worms."

🎣 Sebastian Inlet District Week of August 17: Summer doldrums.. 🐟  "Hot summer days at the inlet with the typical afternoon thunderstorms rolling through are the norm this time of year.  We hear the fishing action has been pretty much the same with lots of Mangrove Snapper around.  You’ll find them throughout the inlet system so try your luck at a new fishing spot somewhere in the State Park.  You’ve got lots of options – the jetties, catwalks, shorelines, by the tide pool cove and the T-dock.  The favorite bait to target Mangrove Snapper is live shrimp so go see Tommy at Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle before you head out to get your supplies. There have been some Red Drum around Tommy tells us, a few Spanish Mackerel, Jacks and Blue Runners too.  Your best bet is on the North and South jetties.  Spanish Mackerel will hit on little spoons, Gotcha lures and jigs.  Use live shrimp to target Jacks and Blue Runners will hit on a variety of smaller baits and lures.  Use shrimp, clams or sandfleas to target the Red Drum. We know anglers are anxiously awaiting the start of Snook season set for September 1.  We will be posting more information in the next two weeks on bag and size limits, and any relevant information from FWC and Sebastian Inlet State Park officials."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-17-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Offshore over the weekend was a little slow with a few sails and dolphin around in 60 to 80ft with live bait. The Kingfish bite has been good with a few nice fish around to the north with on the reef. Baits has been hard to find with a few around 12. The snapper fishing has picked up with the water cleaning up a little. Inshore snook bite has been good on live bait in the inlet and around docks. There has been a few good reds to the north around Harbor Branch with soft baits and top water around first light. The beach fishing has been steady to the south around the power plant."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-19-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida  "Surf fishing has been very good the last several days, with Snook, Tarpon, Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish, and Jack Crevalle roaming the beaches up and down the Treasure Coast chasing glass minnows and occasionally mullet. Hogy Paddle Tails in the 5.5″ and 6.5″ versions have been the most effective lures, though spoons have also produced. The Indian River is still pretty dirty overall, but some Redfish and Snook are still being caught, as well as baby Tarpon in the early AM. The inlets are still producing Snook in the evenings, but season is still closed. Offshore has been quiet, with the occasional Kingfish, and some Mangrove Snapper for the bottom fisherman."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 August 20, 2020  "Along the beaches in Martin and St. Lucie County there has been a nice uptick in the pompano bite. Anglers having the best results have been using sandflea- and yellow crab-flavored Fishbites. Also along those beaches, there is still a nice bite for whiting and croaker. Bloodworm-flavored Fishbites have been working well. Snook are still cruising the shoreline as well. A top-water plug in the early morning or late afternoon has been a best bet. Along the beaches in Jupiter the snook have mostly been congregating at the inlet and at the Juno Pier. Season opens Sept. 1. Also along the beaches in Jupiter, at a few of the rock piles off the beach, there have been some Spanish mackerel. The surf action has been good around Singer Island. Look for snook and tarpon along the beach during low light conditions."

🎣 St Augustine FISHING REPORT 🐟 No prey, few predators. This has not been the kindest of summers for near shore anglers. "Alligator season began Aug. 15 and continues through Nov. 1. The FWC estimates there will be around 15,000 requests for about 7,000 permits this year statewide. The harvest each year is scientifically set to keep the state's gator populations viable but controllable. Most of the local hunters are seeing plenty of gators but not the real giants of the past. This is to be expected as everyone targets the big gators. Still, gator hunter Adam Delaney who guides trips out of Lake George reported three hunts this week with a 10 foot, 10-incher, an 11 foot, 3-ncher and a 12 foot, 8 inch specimen. So there are some trophies still around. Surf fishing has been decent. And for whatever reason the county pier has been attracting several species of fish, including trout, spadefish, flounder, sheepshead and whiting. The Flagler County Pier has the same thing going on but add snook, small kingfish, jacks and mangrove snapper.

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (8/21-8/23/20202)  "SURF/PIER  The Juno Beach Pier had a few kingfish around this week, along with a decent number of bonita.  A diamond jig or good casting swimming plug (X-Rap, SP Minnow, or Yo-Zuri Long Cast) are good lure options.  A few Spanish Mackerel around the Pier, but not in the numbers that the past few weeks saw.  While snook fishing has not been red hot at the pier, a decent number are still being caught.  Snook fishing along the beach remains good, especially early in the morning.  Best bet has been small lures in the 3-4" range resembling pilchards.  Good numbers of small baits around, and that is what the snook have been keyed in on.  Up to the nort,h the glass minnow schools are attracting a lot of attention from sharks, tarpon, snook, Spanish Mackerel, and even a early season bluefish or two.  No set spot for the glass minnow schools, just have to go looking for them.  Could be a handful of pompano around this weekend with some east winds in the forecast."

🎣 August 21 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 "Between morning thunderstorms, getting-back-to-school chores, and recovering from hardcore vacationing in the Florida Keys, things have been pretty quiet on local waters. Which is not to say the fish aren’t biting. Late summer is prime time for red grouper action offshore, where permit also are waiting on wrecks and reefs. An abundance of juvenile tarpon make inshore grand slams including snook, redfish and trout a strong possibility. Hankerings for a fish fry can be easily satisfied with crappie on Lake Trafford, or bluegill on the Big O."

🎣 Sebastian Inlet District Week of August 10: Mangrove Snapper are running again 🐟 "Mangrove Snapper are running again and anglers are getting hits all over the inlet.  Try fishing from the jetties, catwalks, shorelines, cove and Tdock.  We hear they were biting really good early this morning on low tide. There are also some Spanish Mackerel, Jacks and Blue Runners around.  Your best bet is on the North and South jetties.  Use your little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures to target Spanish Mackerel.  Live shrimp and spoons for Jacks, and pretty much any smaller bait or lure to target Blue Runners. Tommy at Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle tells us he has even seen a few Margates and Flounder anglers have caught in the last few days.  Best bet is West of the bridge to reel in Flounder.  For the Margates use frozen or live shrimp, and they’ll be mainly off the jetties or under the bridge catwalks.  Go see Tommy and he’ll get you set up with all the bait you’ll need and give you an update on the latest action."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-12-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Good morning everyone. We’ve got reasonably calm conditions thru the weekend, so hopefully you can get out there. Fishing for Redfish in the Indian River has been quite good lately. Sight fishing has been difficult due to water conditions, but those fishing live bait and soft plastics have had good fishing. There have also been quite a few Snook around as well to keep things lively. Surf fishing for Snook, Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, and Tarpon has been good as well, with calm conditions and bait around as well. Spoons, swimbaits, and jigs have all been productive. Tides will also get better for morning and evening action as the week goes on, right now late morning and afternoon seem to be the best. Snook fishing in the inlets continue to be good during closed season, and there’s been some Tarpon on outgoing evening tides. Offshore, trolling has been really quiet lately, but Mangrove Snapper fishing has been decent on cut bait, despite some dirtier than normal water conditions. Good luck out there, and stay safe."

🎣 Jacksonville Fishing Report 🐟 Mangrove Madness "Capt. Jeff Wansor said he's catching a lot of keeper mangroves along the ICW. Mud minnows have been the primo bait. Wansor said he's finding pods of reds along the edge of the ditch, which he is catching with finger mullet during the lower-water parts of the tide cycle. The approach is also yielding a nice bycatch. "We're getting a lot of trout. Not a lot of numbers but some decent fish," he said. Wansor said the rain has taken a toll on the water clarity and salinity, and he said the bite in some of the creeks has slowed a bit.  John Eggers said an upside to the rain has been a drop in water temperature. He said the red fish and flounder bite has been OK, while the sea trout bite has been good on drop offs between 10 and 15 feet of water. I received another round of promising bull red reports from the St. Johns River this week, so you've got a Plan B for big fish if you're nearshore plans crumble. Fish cut crab in 40 feet of water and wait for the bite. And please use enough tackle to fight the fish quickly and take care of them once you've landed them."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 August 13, 2020 "The snook and tarpon fishing as been good at the Lake Worth Inlet and the nearby bridges and beaches. Flair Hawk jigs and bigger swimbaits are working great at night, while during the day downsizing your presentation to something like a Vudu Shrimp or a Hyperplastic Dartspin should work well. Big jack crevalle have been spotted cruising around the surf zone and the Lake Worth Inlet. Throw a big piece of metal like a Shimano Coltsniper jig or a big topwater lure to get into them. Little by little, a few early season mullet have been showing up, which is an exciting sign for inshore guys because it means the bulk of them are not far behind. Spinner and blacktip sharks have been jumping along the edges of the flats and channels in the Intracoastal Waterway near the Boynton Inlet."

🎣 Daytona Beach Fishing Report 🐟 Big redfish invading inlet areas "The area is seeing the first signs of the fall mullet run and when there are mullet running, big fish are not far behind. SURF, PIERS: Gene Lytwyn at The Fishin’ Hole said there is one primary catch in these waters. “The surf is still mostly whiting,” he said. “Catch them with pompano rigs, baited with shrimp, sand fleas or Fishbites. Quite a few small sharks are being caught. More tarpon activity is being noticed now that some more mullet are present.” And there’s this report from Flagler County from Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com): “The Flagler Beach Pier this weekend saw a hot mangrove snapper bite at the end of the pier,” he said. “We also got reports of whiting, jacks, flounder, drum and pompano. The surf in Flagler has been alive with whiting, sharks, pompano and the surprise of a few permit. The surf rounds out with black drum redfish and trout.”

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (8/14-8/16/2020) "SURF/PIER Surf fishing, by summer time standards, has been very good this week.  The snook have been cruising the beach in good numbers, along with a few tarpon and big jacks.  Low light periods remain the best for the snook, though high sun can provide good sight fishing opportunities.   For those looking for good action; the croakers, sandperch, and even a pompano or two are biting pieces of shrimp on a bottom rig.  Fair scattering of summertime Spanish Mackerel around; though not in the same numbers we saw over the past week or two.  The Juno Beach Pier snook bite has been a bit off this week, so look for better chances along the beach or in the inlets."

🎣 August 14 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 "Fishing’s been a little quiet, given the recent exodus of 16,000-plus anglers to the Keys for lobster season, with frequent summer thunderstorms piling on. But the catching has been good for those who’ve gone. Offshore trips for red grouper have been pretty good, with catches starting in about 65 feet and improving as you go seaward. Snook, tarpon and redfish like it hot, so no complaints from them. None from Lake Trafford’s crappie anglers, either. We’re talking limits of specks."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 🐟 4-7-2020 "Bear point has had a few trout and snook around top water around first light and soft baits once the sun gets up have produced well. The redfish bite has been steady up to the north of Vero with live bait with a few nice snook mixed in."

Fishing in the Indian River continues to produce, with clean water conditions around, and god numbers of fish as well. Seatrout continue to provide plenty of activity, with good numbers along the drop offs of spoil islands and larger fish on the flats. Soft plastics are as usual a good bet, as well as some topwater action starting to happen. Snook have also been active, with some larger fish still around the flats, and the area bridges have yielded some really solid fish. Redfish numbers have been steady, mostly along the shorelines, also falling for soft plastics. Snook fishing at Fort Pierce Inlet has been good as well, mostly on live bait and for those pulling plugs such as Shad Raps. Offshore, Dolphin activity has been sporadic, but Kingfish have been quite active in the 75′ range, mostly on greenies. Good luck out there, and stay safe."

🐟 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🎣 April 9, 2020 "The bottom fishing has been good as well with plenty of snapper and grouper being caught on sardines, threadfins and whole squid. Grouper are not in season, however, so they must be released.
Straight out from the Lake Worth Inlet, in 200 to 350 feet of water, there is also an excellent bite for blackfin tuna. They are being taken on the troll using small feathers. Most fish are in the three- to 10-pound range.
There has been some good king mackerel action on the reef off of The Breakers. Dead sardines or live baits are working well in 80 to 110 feet of water."

🐟 Fishing Report 🎣 Surf fishing ramping up, inshore still strong "SURF, PIERS: The Fishin’ Hole, in downtown Daytona Beach, said surf fishing has seen an increase in pompano catches over the last couple days while adding that there were still plenty of whiting and blue fish in the surf. “Fishing activity is great in our area,” was the report. “Fishing is still a virus-safe activity, if done properly. Please follow social distancing guidelines, so we can continue enjoying this activity.”
