🎣 Sebastian Inlet District Week of August 17: Summer doldrums.. 🐟  "Hot summer days at the inlet with the typical afternoon thunderstorms rolling through are the norm this time of year.  We hear the fishing action has been pretty much the same with lots of Mangrove Snapper around.  You’ll find them throughout the inlet system so try your luck at a new fishing spot somewhere in the State Park.  You’ve got lots of options – the jetties, catwalks, shorelines, by the tide pool cove and the T-dock.  The favorite bait to target Mangrove Snapper is live shrimp so go see Tommy at Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle before you head out to get your supplies. There have been some Red Drum around Tommy tells us, a few Spanish Mackerel, Jacks and Blue Runners too.  Your best bet is on the North and South jetties.  Spanish Mackerel will hit on little spoons, Gotcha lures and jigs.  Use live shrimp to target Jacks and Blue Runners will hit on a variety of smaller baits and lures.  Use shrimp, clams or sandfleas to target the Red Drum. We know anglers are anxiously awaiting the start of Snook season set for September 1.  We will be posting more information in the next two weeks on bag and size limits, and any relevant information from FWC and Sebastian Inlet State Park officials."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-17-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Offshore over the weekend was a little slow with a few sails and dolphin around in 60 to 80ft with live bait. The Kingfish bite has been good with a few nice fish around to the north with on the reef. Baits has been hard to find with a few around 12. The snapper fishing has picked up with the water cleaning up a little. Inshore snook bite has been good on live bait in the inlet and around docks. There has been a few good reds to the north around Harbor Branch with soft baits and top water around first light. The beach fishing has been steady to the south around the power plant."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-19-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida  "Surf fishing has been very good the last several days, with Snook, Tarpon, Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish, and Jack Crevalle roaming the beaches up and down the Treasure Coast chasing glass minnows and occasionally mullet. Hogy Paddle Tails in the 5.5″ and 6.5″ versions have been the most effective lures, though spoons have also produced. The Indian River is still pretty dirty overall, but some Redfish and Snook are still being caught, as well as baby Tarpon in the early AM. The inlets are still producing Snook in the evenings, but season is still closed. Offshore has been quiet, with the occasional Kingfish, and some Mangrove Snapper for the bottom fisherman."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 August 20, 2020  "Along the beaches in Martin and St. Lucie County there has been a nice uptick in the pompano bite. Anglers having the best results have been using sandflea- and yellow crab-flavored Fishbites. Also along those beaches, there is still a nice bite for whiting and croaker. Bloodworm-flavored Fishbites have been working well. Snook are still cruising the shoreline as well. A top-water plug in the early morning or late afternoon has been a best bet. Along the beaches in Jupiter the snook have mostly been congregating at the inlet and at the Juno Pier. Season opens Sept. 1. Also along the beaches in Jupiter, at a few of the rock piles off the beach, there have been some Spanish mackerel. The surf action has been good around Singer Island. Look for snook and tarpon along the beach during low light conditions."

🎣 St Augustine FISHING REPORT 🐟 No prey, few predators. This has not been the kindest of summers for near shore anglers. "Alligator season began Aug. 15 and continues through Nov. 1. The FWC estimates there will be around 15,000 requests for about 7,000 permits this year statewide. The harvest each year is scientifically set to keep the state's gator populations viable but controllable. Most of the local hunters are seeing plenty of gators but not the real giants of the past. This is to be expected as everyone targets the big gators. Still, gator hunter Adam Delaney who guides trips out of Lake George reported three hunts this week with a 10 foot, 10-incher, an 11 foot, 3-ncher and a 12 foot, 8 inch specimen. So there are some trophies still around. Surf fishing has been decent. And for whatever reason the county pier has been attracting several species of fish, including trout, spadefish, flounder, sheepshead and whiting. The Flagler County Pier has the same thing going on but add snook, small kingfish, jacks and mangrove snapper.

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (8/21-8/23/20202)  "SURF/PIER  The Juno Beach Pier had a few kingfish around this week, along with a decent number of bonita.  A diamond jig or good casting swimming plug (X-Rap, SP Minnow, or Yo-Zuri Long Cast) are good lure options.  A few Spanish Mackerel around the Pier, but not in the numbers that the past few weeks saw.  While snook fishing has not been red hot at the pier, a decent number are still being caught.  Snook fishing along the beach remains good, especially early in the morning.  Best bet has been small lures in the 3-4" range resembling pilchards.  Good numbers of small baits around, and that is what the snook have been keyed in on.  Up to the nort,h the glass minnow schools are attracting a lot of attention from sharks, tarpon, snook, Spanish Mackerel, and even a early season bluefish or two.  No set spot for the glass minnow schools, just have to go looking for them.  Could be a handful of pompano around this weekend with some east winds in the forecast."

🎣 August 21 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 "Between morning thunderstorms, getting-back-to-school chores, and recovering from hardcore vacationing in the Florida Keys, things have been pretty quiet on local waters. Which is not to say the fish aren’t biting. Late summer is prime time for red grouper action offshore, where permit also are waiting on wrecks and reefs. An abundance of juvenile tarpon make inshore grand slams including snook, redfish and trout a strong possibility. Hankerings for a fish fry can be easily satisfied with crappie on Lake Trafford, or bluegill on the Big O."

🎣 Orlando Area and East Central Lagoon Coast Fishing Forecast 🐟 August 2020  "The heat is on, as fishing opportunities kick in along the Indian River Lagoon Coast of Florida. Looks like its going to be an active season for summer squalls, but as long as they stay away fishing along the beaches and in the inlets will remain equally as hot. The Labrador current (cold water upwelling) as it is known is still holding off this year, but when it arrives it will cool down bottom temperatures and the bottom fishing in some areas along Florida’s east coast. With average bottom water temperatures in the mid-sixties, finding warmer water is the key to locating fish. Studies have shown the phenomena is actually the effect of a prevailing south wind combined with the Coriolis effect pushing the warm surface water offshore and the cold bottom water moving up to replace displaced water, but either way it equates to some tough fishing at times. Look for the blue water bite to improve along the inshore reefs and wrecks of Chris Benson, 8A Reef, and Pelican Flats, with kingfish, dolphin, black fin tuna, and cobia serving as the primary species, along with an occasional wahoo or sailfish. This is also the time of year when cooler waters sometimes push the giant manta rays in close to the shoals off the Cape, bringing cobia with them. Further offshore, the Gulf Stream typically moves in closer making tuna a possibility for smaller boats, and as long as the summer squalls stay away, running to the other side of the stream isn’t out of the question."

🎣 Captain Greg's Fishing Report 🐟 August 2020 "August Near Shore Fishing Forecast: Tropical storm Isaias will have the water clarity wrecked for any hopes of live bait trolling the beach for kings and the occasional cobia so unless we have no more storm activity for the next month you will have to wait another year for that awesome fishery. August is a great month for Tarpon. Live pogies drifted back over the shoal will be a sure bet for anyone wanting to have a blast trying to tame these awesome fish. Finding the live bait might be a challenge but once you have the bait it is just a numbers game from there on out. 50lb fluro leader with a 5/0 circle hook free lined back is all you need. You will have some bluefish and sharks to weed through but eventually that tarpon will find you. Goliath grouper are another awesome fish we have in August that are perfect targets for anglers who just want to see if they have what it takes to tame the beast. Use any giant live or dead bait along any structure inside of 10 miles and you have a great chance at goliath grouper."

Inshore the snook and trout bite was ok to the north around Harbor Branch for the few that got out with a few tarpon around in the inlet. The weather should be nice the rest of the week hopefully you can get out."

🎣 Sebastian Inlet Week of August 3 🐟  Mangrove Snapper, Reds, Spanish Mackerel, Jacks and Blue Runners "Tommy tells us that fishing has been decent, but not great as we head into high summer.  The one constant is our summertime Mangrove Snapper and there are lots around to be had.  Use small live shrimp or greenies to target them, and try fishing from the T-dock or the north shoreline by the tide pool. Red Drum can be found throughout the inlet system too and usually hit better on the outgoing tide.  Use your live shrimp or cut bait.  Spanish Mackerel, Jacks and Blue Runners have been coming over the rails on the jetties.  Try the South jetty for now.  Spanish Mackerel will hit on little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures.  Blue Runners will bite on a variety of smaller baits and lures, and Jacks seem to prefer live shrimp and spoons.  Tommy tells us there have even been a few large Cubera Snapper hanging around.  Try the North jetty when it reopens.  Anglers are still seeing a lot of Snook too, but please remember they are catch and release only until the season opens again in a few short weeks on September 1."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-5-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Good morning everyone. By the looks of the damage done in North Carolina up into the Northeast that we dodged a bullet from Isaias. Surf conditions have calmed down, but the water is still pretty dirty in most places, and seaweed is gone from some areas, but others are unfishable due to the weeds. Hopefully with a few days of calm conditions things will clear up. The Indian River has received quite a bit of runoff, making it even dirtier than it was, but those fishing the outflows of culverts and relief canals have had success with Snook and baby Tarpon. The inlets are producing Snook at night on flare jigs, as well as Tarpon on jigs and plugs on outgoing tide. Offshore has been quiet, but as things are calming down things should resume, as the Kingfish bite was pretty good before the storm. Good luck out there."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 Palm Beach Post August 6, 2020 "Where the sargassum isn’t too thick, anglers at the beach on Singer Island are catching snook and the occasional tarpon working Livetarget Slow-Roll on a weighted hook. Surf anglers working the beaches just south of the Boynton Inlet have been catching barracuda on tube lures and tarpon using 3.5 inch Yo-Zuri lures that mimic either pilchards or sardines. At the Boynton Inlet there have been a few mangrove snapper caught as well as snook and tarpon on live baits. Tarpon up to 100 pounds have been seen rolling in the channel in the Intracoastal Waterway between the Boynton Inlet and the Palm Beach Yacht Center. Anglers at the Lantana Bridge are catching some nice sheepshead on peeled shrimp and clam strips. Sand perch and small mangrove snappper are being caught at the bridge on live and peeled shrimp."

🎣 Daytona Beach Fishing Report 🐟 Catches before, after tropical storm "The tropical storm slowed, but didn’t stop, anglers from getting out on the water and reeling in a variety of fish. SURF, PIERS: This week’s surf report comes from Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com). “The surf has been hot for whiting, jacks and pompano,” he said. “The shark bite off of Flagler beaches is still red hot. And just this reminder: get your shark permit if fishing for these great game fish. The permit is no cost to get yet if caught without one the price is high. The surf is also producing redfish, black drum and trout.” The piers report catches of whiting with jacks, a few pompano and trout mixed in.”

🎣 Jacksonville Fishing Report 🐟 Bouncing back after Isaias hangover "While Hurricane Isaias was barely felt on land in Jacksonville, the big, albeit short-lived swell it created off our coast put the brakes on some hot coastal fishing. The dust has settled enough to allow local charter captains to take a peek in the ocean, and what they saw was a mixed bag. The good news: there's a ton of bait on the beach and in the inlet. However, the water was dirty, and the bite was dead. Since the bait is still around, you'd have to think the fishing will pick up after the nearshore water cleans up. Until then, there's plenty of redfish, trout and flounder to catch in the St. Johns River and the ditch. The weekend forecast is looking mild for a change. NOAA is calling for light south winds and seas between one and two feet."

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (8/7-8/9/2020)  "SURF/PIER Catch and release snook fishing has been good along the beach, at the Juno Beach Pier, and in Jupiter and Palm Beach Inlets as well.  Look for the snook bite to be really good at night on the backside of the moon.  The inlet bite will be best on the tides; and heavily bait dependent.  For the inlet snook it's all about the croakers and sand perch.  The Spanish Mackerel have been biting well at the Juno Beach Pier.  Small Clark Spoons below a bobber rig are a great choice for the Macs, as is free-lining small live baits.  A handful of big jacks cruising the beach, along with a few tarpon.  The Juno Beach Pier has seen a few Bonita as well over the past week.  Jupiter Inlet is producing a few mangrove snapper.  Fair number of croaker and sand perch are biting small pieces of shrimp in the first trough."

🎣 St Augustine Fishing Report 🐟 Snook, tarpon are red hot "The tarpon bite continues to be as good as most anglers can remember this year. Most of the fishing is just inside or just outside of either of our inlets. They’re also following the shrimp boats, gorging on bycatch shoveled off the decks. There were two strange and similar reports of kingfish being caught in 10 to 12 feet of water off the beaches this week. And both captains insist they’ve never seen so many kingfish skyrocketing at any given moment. The kingfish fishing on the local reefs and wrecks has been pretty slow all week, so the beaches will likely be your best bet. That is especially true around the Nine-Mile bottom where sharks are killing more kingfish and cobia than are making into ice chests. It is a slaughter out there."

🎣 August 7 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 "If you’re looking for a lazy, hazy, summer day, don’t throw a line in the water. You’ll likely end up all tired and sweaty. Snook and redfish are biting so well, they’re even hitting red mangrove seeds. Really. Beach fishing is producing tripletail in the surf at Venice, and nearshore anglers report big permit and limits of mangrove snapper in as little as 30 feet of water. Bluegill and bass have been biting well on Lake Okeechobee, and Lake Trafford waters have risen enough to support a bass boat tournament."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 5-4-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Good Morning, Offshore yesterday there was a few good dolphin mixed with a few sails around. The grouper bite was ok over the weekend if you could deal with the ripping current. The kingfish bite has slowed down there is a few nice fish around live bait has worked the best for the big guys. The snapper bite on the beach has been good with some nice muttons and mangroves . Inshore the snook bite has been good on the flats and the bridges with live bait with a few reds around to. The trout bite to the north was good around first light and as the sun is going down late in the after noon. The snapper bite has been good around the bridges to on white baits."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 5-6-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida   "The beaches have been active with Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish, as well as more and more Snook. Spoons and metals are producing most of the Spanish and Bluefish, while soft plastics, bucktail jigs, and plugs are accounting for most of the Snook. Just off the beaches, schools of large Jack Crevalle as well as some Tarpon have been working the schools of mullet and greenies that have been mostly 300 to 400 yards off the beach. The Jack Crevalle will take a variety of things, including topwater plugs, and the Tarpon have been taking Hogy Paddle Tails. Snook fishing in the inlets has been average, with flare jigs and live bait doing most of the business. Offshore, Dolphin fishing has been pretty good out around 300′ of water, and the Kingfish bite in 70′ to 80′ of water has been good as well. For the bottom fishing anglers, the Snapper bite in 60′ of water has been very good as well."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 May 7, 2020 Palm Beach Post "Inshore fishing: The jetties at the St. Lucie Inlet has had a good bite for redfish the past week using crabs and shrimp. They are also being caught at the area bridges along with flounder. Like redfish, flounder are being taken using crabs and shrimp. Along the St. Lucie Inlet jetties, and out onto the nearby beaches, there has been good action on snook. They are being taken mostly on live pilchards. The season is open until June 1. There are also tarpon along the beaches. Both the snook and tarpon are being caught in the first trough where they are chasing the large amounts of bait that are currently in the area. Also in the first trough, whiting and croaker are being caught on the beaches using sandflea- and bloodworm-flavored Fishbites."

🎣 FISHING REPORT 🐟 Bait shops busier than ever St Augustine "The local reefs and wrecks are holding bait, predominantly cigar minnows. The kingfish began to show up late last week, but have been smallish. The fish up in Mayport are larger. But it should be Katie-bar-the door in another week or so for the mackerel bite. The cobia fishing has slowed considerably, most of the fish moving north. There are plenty of pogies on the beach, more north of the inlet than south. Schools of giant jack crevalle up to 35 pounds are marauding up and down the beach. If you hook one on anything but heavy tackle, pack a lunch. And a few of the guides said they saw their first tarpon of the season busting up the pogy pods this week. Surf fishing has been slow. It’s understandable that the Spring pompano run is petering out here as they migrate north. But I can’t understand where the whiting are which for us is nowhere. It’s worse than I’ve ever seen."

🎣 Juno Bait Fishing Report 🐟 Weekend Fishing Outlook (5/8-5/10/2020)   "SURF/PIER-  Still not much access on the beach locally, but up the coast surf fishing has been good.  Solid pompano bite starting at Hutchison Island and north over the past week.  Sandfleas, clams, and FishBites will be the best bait for the pomps.  Some big jacks cruising the beach this week.  Good number of tarpon moving north over the past week.  Should be about time for the early season snook to start showing up along the beach as well."

🎣 May 8 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟  "A nice stretch of gentle breezes was just what Southwest Florida anglers needed for pent-up fishing urges, and COVID-19 cabin fever.
Offshore anglers had some heydays on deep wrecks, with yellowtail snappers and more filling fix boxes, when they could get them away from thieving amberjacks. Inshore anglers have been busy exercising tarpon, snook, redfish, and trout. Lake Trafford's crappie continued to bite in limit numbers, and Lake Okeechobee's bluegill and bass also have been on a tear."

🎣 Daytona Beach News Journal Fishing Report 🐟 Offshore rules the week again   "From the Atlantic to the St. Johns, tight lines rule the day. The area is attempting to return to some sense of normalcy. As it does, the fish up and down the coast are starting to bite again. SURF, PIERS: Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com) said the fishing has been better this past week with beaches opening back up. “We are hearing about pompano, whiting, bluefish and some black drum in the surf being caught on fresh dead shrimp, sandfleas and finger mullet.”

"Good Morning, Offshore over the weekend a few boats go out with the wind the dolphin bite was good with both live and dead bait in 120 to 150ft with a few nice blackfins mixed in. The snapper bite should pick up as soon as the wind calms down a little there has been some nice mangroves around. The Spanish mackerel have been around in the Vero cove with a few cobia mixed in. Inshore the snook bite has been good with live bait in the inlet and on the flats with a few big reds mixed in. The snapper bite around the bridges has been good with a few nice flounder mixed in."

"With the recent warm weather fishing in the IRL has continued to be good, with numbers and size available for those targeting Snook, with live Pilchards doing most of the business on the larger fish. Redfish are also around in good numbers, taking soft plastics as usual, as well as bait."

"Anglers getting out on the water off of the Jensen Beach area have reported catching a few cobia while working the boils off of the powerplant. The blackfin tuna bite has been good off of Jensen as well the past few days. Trolling squid chains has been working."

"Anglers are not social distancing with fish. There are strong catches in every area. SURF, PIERS: The pompano catch spiked in recent days, according to a post by Roy Mattson (royssurffishing.com). “Lots of pompano on the beaches Volusia and Brevard,” he reported. Other surf staples included whiting and bluefish."

"In this week's Jacksonville fishing report, Sheepshead are biting and the Cobia remain south of St. Augustine."

🐟 FISHING REPORT 🎣 Crappy weather yields surprises  

 "St Johns and area lakes: Fishing on the river was surprisingly robust this week. Some of the bait shops report they’re the busiest they’ve ever been: Something about the kids driving customers crazy at home. And from most report it looks like the panfish bite is enough to roust anglers out, if even for a couple of hours between the rains.
The bluegill and shellcracker bite remains excellent all over the area. There’s bedding activity spread out across the area, but even without that concentration, the catches have been surprisingly good.
Crickets are the top selling bait, with wigglers right behind. Those who can mark bream beds with bottom sonar — especially side-imaging units — are on the money. Others are drifting with the winds through likely areas and anchoring when they get some bites."

Boat ramps in Port St. Lucie to re-open April 17 after being closed for three weeks 

"Boaters in Port St. Lucie received good news Thursday afternoon. City of Port St. Lucie-managed boat ramps will be re-opening beginning at 8 a.m. April 17.
The city announced it would close all four of its boat ramps on March 24. A city spokesperson said leaders made the decision after receiving complaints from the prior weekend of boaters not observing social distancing guidelines. Since the closure, Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order mandating boats remain 50 feet apart and have fewer than 10 passengers on board."

🐟 FLORIDA TODAY 🎣 Fishing Report: Dolphin delight bluewater anglers; Trout fishing is improving   

"April on the Space Coast typically means it's time for locals to get their beaches, roads and restaurants back. It means warmer temperatures, light rains and proms for our teens. But this isn't a typical April. Far from it. Fortunately, for all the ways the virus has changed our daily lives, it has not changed fishing patterns. This week was certainly an indication that fishing can provide some normalcy for our strange days. Surf: Melbourne Beach has produced good catches of pompano and whiting for anglers fishing during the incoming tide. Use Fishbites or clam strips for the best action. Anglers fishing with diamond jigs or chrome spoons can catch bluefish and Spanish mackerel which are migrating north the next few weeks."

  "INSHORE-  Snook fishing remains pretty good right now.  As is the case with most things fishing in our area, access remains the biggest challenge.  The snook are biting at night around the bridges.  Flair Hawk jigs, SpoolTek Swimbaits, and shrimp jigs are all catching the snook pretty good right now.  Also hearing some pretty good tarpon reports around the bridges as well. 
SURF/PIER-  Limited access continues to keep the surf reports to a minimum.  A few scattered reports of pompano, bluefish, and jacks coming in.  Without secluded beach access or a boat it's pretty much a no go these days....On the positive side, when things open up it should be really good!"

April 17 🐟 fishing report 🎣 from Byron Stout Breezes in the little-too-brisk category have kept lots of folk tied to the dock over the past week.  

""Anybody who can cast can catch a redfish right now. The (blankety) things are getting in the way of catching snook," reports St. James City Capt. George Grosselfinger, who somehow managed five snook between all the 30-inch reds he released Wednesday in northern Pine Island Sound. He also caught five snook among six reds Saturday, north of Regla Island."

Fishing in the Indian River continues to produce, with clean water conditions around, and god numbers of fish as well. Seatrout continue to provide plenty of activity, with good numbers along the drop offs of spoil islands and larger fish on the flats. Soft plastics are as usual a good bet, as well as some topwater action starting to happen. Snook have also been active, with some larger fish still around the flats, and the area bridges have yielded some really solid fish. Redfish numbers have been steady, mostly along the shorelines, also falling for soft plastics. Snook fishing at Fort Pierce Inlet has been good as well, mostly on live bait and for those pulling plugs such as Shad Raps. Offshore, Dolphin activity has been sporadic, but Kingfish have been quite active in the 75′ range, mostly on greenies. Good luck out there, and stay safe."

🐟 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🎣 April 9, 2020 "The bottom fishing has been good as well with plenty of snapper and grouper being caught on sardines, threadfins and whole squid. Grouper are not in season, however, so they must be released.
Straight out from the Lake Worth Inlet, in 200 to 350 feet of water, there is also an excellent bite for blackfin tuna. They are being taken on the troll using small feathers. Most fish are in the three- to 10-pound range.
There has been some good king mackerel action on the reef off of The Breakers. Dead sardines or live baits are working well in 80 to 110 feet of water."

🐟 Fishing Report 🎣 Surf fishing ramping up, inshore still strong "SURF, PIERS: The Fishin’ Hole, in downtown Daytona Beach, said surf fishing has seen an increase in pompano catches over the last couple days while adding that there were still plenty of whiting and blue fish in the surf. “Fishing activity is great in our area,” was the report. “Fishing is still a virus-safe activity, if done properly. Please follow social distancing guidelines, so we can continue enjoying this activity.”

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 🐟 3-30-2020 "With the boat ramps being closed this weekend in Martin County we didn’t hear too many reports. If the fishing keeps following the trend it was on last week it should turn out for a great week of fishing. The Cobia fishing has been good out of Stuart with a few nice kingfish mixed in. Out of Ft. Pierce there were a few nice Wahoo caught in 250-300ft. The Mahi fishing has been a little slow but hopefully as we get further into April we get a big push of gaffers."

We will be open as normal thru Friday April 3rd, and be closed Saturday April 4th and Sunday April 5th. We will reopen on the afternoon of Monday April 6th for phone ahead orders only in all three stores for the foreseeable future. We intend to maintain all services and capabilities, but with limited contact with customers for your safety and ours.
On the fishing front, there are still quite a few quality Snook around in the Indian River. Due to relatively clear, calm conditions, most of the larger fish have been taken on live bait. There are also good numbers of Redfish and Seatrout taking soft plastics such as the DOA CAL paddle tails and flies such as the Shrimp Tease."

If you’re looking for pompano, but don’t have legal beach access, there has been a bite for them at the Stuart and Jensen causeways. Use either Doc’s Goofy Jigs or GSL High Jinx Pompano Jigs. Anglers working a few of the bridges at night are finding excellent snook action. Fishing the Roosevelt and Stuart causeways with live shrimp or mullet has producing good results."

Ron DeSantis to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, Jacksonville’s boat ramps remain open. Fishing remains highly productive as the transition into spring unfolds in our local waters.
Fish are driven by the need to eat and reproduce, and both activities have attracted a diverse migration of game fish. Big black drum are arriving in the inlet - and the sheepshead are still eating well after spawning - and the baitfish returning to Mayport have dragged in a motley crew of predators, like big bluefish, Spanish mackerel, jack crevalle and ladyfish. Capt. Dave Sipler said he caught some nice big redfish at the rocks and that the whiting bite has been wide open. He’s catching quantity and quality, with many of the bull whiting topping 15 inches."

 "At Lake Kissimmee, bass are biting hollow body frogs early around lines of lily pads or areas with mixed pads and grass. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will update their “Florida Public Boat Ramp Finder” page -- https://bit.ly/39xzqWU -- every 24 hours with information regarding boat ramp status. Information specific to each county can be found under the special comments section. The FWC said if the comment box is blank, this means the ramp is open. The FWC recommends checking with each local government on boat ramp status as well as local emergency orders. 🎣 Daytona Beach News Journal Fishing Report: Huge black drum being caught in river 3-25-2020

"SURF, PIERS: As long as Volusia County beaches stay open, fishermen will continue to work those waters along the shoreline. Gene Lytwyn at The Fishin’ Hole said the water is fine for fishing. “Our unprecedented streak of warm weather has escalated fishing to new heights,” he said. “Surf and ocean pier fishermen have tangled with some line-stretching large bluefish.”
In addition to blues, anglers have been catching a wide variety of fish including whiting, pompano, Spanish mackerel and one cobia. The Flagler Beach Pier is closed because of the coronavirus outbreak. There is an extremely limited area to fish from the Daytona Beach Pier. The Sunglow Pier in Daytona Beach Shores remains open to the public."

"Inshore fishing:
Though the beaches in Martin and St. Lucie County are closed to the public right now, the pompano bite has been excellent. They are being taken using Fishbites combined with sandfleas, shrimp or clams. If you’re an angler, live on the beach and like pompano you’re pretty happy right now.
At the Roosevelt Causeway there has been a really good snook bite at night. They are being caught on smaller profile baits like shrimp or swimbaits like a 3″ No Live Bait Needed. Also, from the bridges there has been a decent redfish bite. Live shrimp are working best.
Along the beaches in the Palm Beach area, there have been some good-size tarpon. Also along the beaches, and inside the Lake Worth Inlet, have been a few monster jack crevalle up to 40 pounds. At the Lantana Bridge there has been good action on sand perch and Spanish mackerel. The sand perch are being caught on peeled shrimp and the Spanish mackerel are being taken using small spoons and GOT-CHA lures."


🎣 3-24-2020 Coronavirus Florida: Manatee closing public boat ramps, to offer drive-thru testing

 "Manatee County boat ramps will be closed to the public to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, it was announced at an emergency meeting held by the Board of County Commissioners Tuesday morning. The closures will begin 6 a.m. Thursday.
The announcement comes after both Manatee and Sarasota counties decided to shut down public beaches last week. But despite beach closings, boaters could be seen congregating over the weekend at places like Beer Can Beach, a northern extension of Longboat Key that was once known as Beer Can Island but is now patrolled as a preserve by the city of Longboat Key."

Offshore has been a bit slow, but there has been some decent Kingfish and Dolphin fishing, and Cobia are beginning to show up to the north as well. Fort Pierce Inlet has been a bit tough for Snook unless you are using live bait, due to very clear water conditions, Sebastian has been closed as with all state parks."

"Surf fishing seems to be hit-and-miss. The pompano should be here in good numbers. I know I fished for three hours around the low tide Wednesday and never had a bump from anything. I mean zero. Still there remain some reports of good catches of pompano, though smallish versions. That’s good news because it should mean the main body of the fish is still heading this way from the south."

Whiting, Sheepshead, Pompano, Permit, Black Drum, Saltwater Catfish are some of the catches of the week. With the weirdness abiding, many of our surf fishing beach access spots have been compromised. Closures from Key West, Miami area, Palm Coast, Brevard County (Parking Areas Closed), New Smyrna (Car Ramps to Beach Closed), Jacksonville (some beaches closed), Jetty Park is closed, Sebastian Inlet is only open from 8am to 5pm, so check before you go out. These closings happen and change daily. Better to know ahead before venturing out for some fishing.

🐟 White's Tackle🎣 Fishing Report 3-19-2020 "Good Morning, Offshore yesterday there where a few dolphin and cobia reported the dolphin where in 120 to 160ft with a few sails mixed in. The cobia have been free swimming on the beach and in 50 to 60ft have a jig or a live bait ready to toss if you see one. The bottom fishing has been steady in 60 to 80ft with some nice mangroves on both live and dead bait. Inshore the snook bite has been good around the bridges and jetty on jigs on the outgoing tide . The trout and red bite has been good one day and slow the next bear Point has had a few nice fish and to the north around Harbor Branch. Todays weather info"

Though the ‘go-to’ bait right now is sand fleas, they have been very hard to find. Instead try fish bites, fresh, live, cut up shrimp or clams.
Up in the Loxahatchee River there have also been some pompano caught as well as some nice-size jack crevalle and good numbers of black drum. They are all being taken on cut shrimp"

I am in no way suggesting the end days are here. But ever since the coronavirus outbreak triggered people going into grocery shopping like they are, my hunting and fishing endeavors are paying handsome dividends.
As I walked through Publix earlier this week, I zipped right by the meat aisle, which had been ransacked of everything except a few packages of pig ears. My garage freezer is full of game, and I hardly ever buy meat from the store anyway.
You should have heard me cussing moments earlier in the produce section , which didn’t even have an onion left. I picked the wrong year to skip planting a winter crop in my garden."

Fred Robert (fishing-guy.com) catches a little of everything around the inlet but recently boated a big bluefish. Caruthers has been fishing around the inlet an nearby river waters. “Sheepshead are still around along with flounder, redfish and snook,” he said. “We are seeing some tarpon on my way out of the inlet each morning.” Lytwyn said sheepshead, black drum and redfish are biting up and down the river. “Sheepshead activity is still strong,” he said."

🐟 ST AUGUSTINE FISHING REPORT | Spring has sprung 🎣 "Surf fishing should really pick up this week. There’s good news and bad news there. The good news is the pompano will show up in big numbers this week as surf temperatures eclipse the holy grail of 68 degrees.

It was already 70 degrees at the Flagler Pier yesterday. The bad news will likely be that this run of uncommonly hot weather will make the window of comfort for the pompano very small. That means the surf temps will go from just under the 68 degree mark (recorded Thursday here) to way over that in a matter of a week or so. And that will likely mean a very short stay by the pompano before they follow the cooler water north. The beaches south of the inlet should get the first action. The next week the fish will likely have jumped the inlet and Vilano and South Ponte Vedra Beaches will be better. But this is fishing, not science so be be ready."

🐟 Weekend Fishing Outlook (3/20-3/22/2020) Juno Bait 🎣 "SURF/PIER-  Pompano reports were very good this week along the beach.  Decent pompano catches coming from just north of the Juno Beach Pier all the way up to Hobe Sound.  Sand fleas, clams, and Fishbites are all producing good numbers of pompano.  Best bite will be lowlight periods of the day and also at the end of the hightide.  The Juno Beach Pier has had a very good croaker bite this week, with fresh shrimp being the bait of choice.  The Jupiter Inlet has been hot this week with a solid pompano bite on Doc's Goofy Jigs, as well as a few snook beginning to show up.  The snook were quick to jump on freelined live croakers. "
