🎣 Sebastian Inlet District Week of August 31 🐟 T-minus 14 hours and Counting Until Snook Season Opens 🐟  "At 12:01 a.m., Snook season officially reopens in Atlantic waters and a lot of anglers have been counting down…  Always remember to follow Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission rules and regs. The Snook are around, Tommy tells us, and fishing overall has been GOOD!  Snook will hit on a variety of baits and lures, but live shrimp is your best bet.  Mullet that anglers can use for cut bait are starting to show up, and try bucktail and your top water lures. Mangrove Snapper are still around everywhere and in abundance. So try out the different fishing spots throughout the Park to target these guys.  Live shrimp should do the trick.  Red Drum are biting too, throughout the inlet.  Try live shrimp or minnows, but they’ll hit on a variety of plugs and jigs too.  Anglers have been bringing in Spanish Mackerel, mainly on the jetties.  Little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures will help you target the Spanish Mackerel.  There have also been reports of a few nice Flounder every day.  West of the bridge is your best bet so try fishing from the T-dock."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 8-31-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida  "Offshore over the weekend was good with a few nice dolphin around in 75 to 80ft with a few scattered sails mixed in live bait has been the best bet. The snapper bite during the day and at night has been good with live and dead bait with a few 8 to 10lb mangroves around . The weather looks good the next few days so hopefully you can get out. Inshore Snook season opens on the 1st and should be a good fall season the mullet are starting to show up to the north with the glass minnows still around at the jetty find the bait and you will find some fish. The bridges have had a few snook around live bait has produced the best. The redfish bite has been steady with a few big ones around to the north around Queens Cove soft baits and top water around first light has produced the best."

🎣 Tom Van Horn: September 🐟"September celebrates the beginning of the fall bait migration, primarily silver mullet on Florida’s east coast, with their numbers increasing as we progress into October and November. It is hard to predict precisely when or how strong the mullet run will be, but along with the arrival of the bait, comes the predatory species we love so much. Thus far, the lagoons are loaded with mullet, so its shaping up to be a good run. Look for snook, tarpon, jack crevalle, sharks, and large kingfish crushing bait pods along the beach. These pods are easily located by watching for fish and birds busting bait. Once you’ve determined the direction of fish travel, usually south, simply set up in front and let them come to you."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 9-2-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Surf fishing has been pretty good with the calmer conditions we’ve had for the last several days. Snook, Tarpon, Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, and others have all made appearances, with bait ranging from glass minnows, greenies, to some early appearances of mullet. Clean water and no sea weed has made fishing very pleasant. Offshore, the best bet has been Mangrove Snapper in fairly close, 25′ of water or so, and live greenies or Pilchards have worked best. Snook fishing the inlets has been good with live bait, but the clear water and full moon have made artificials a tougher proposition. Inshore, Redfish are still prevalent in the shallows, and the morning trout bite remains good, but mid day is tough. Snook and baby Tarpon continue to patrol the mangroves and docks, taking soft plastics and suspending twitch baits. Beat the heat, get out early, and have fun!"

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 Palm Beach Post Sept. 3, 2020  "Like areas to the north, the snook action is hot in Palm Beach County right now. Lots of slot fish were caught from the area inlets and bridges when the season kicked off just after midnight on Sept. 1. Though there are still snook at the inlets, they have really started moving farther back inshore. Look for the bridges closest to the inlets to produce the best bites this week. Swim baits and Flare Hawk Jigs fished during the outgoing tide have been working well. Live and artificial shrimp have also been getting the job done.  There have also been a good numbers of tarpon feeding at the bridges at night, mostly around the incoming tide. Though they are hitting small, three-inch soft plastics like the HyperPlastics DartSpin or a LiveTarget SlowRoll Shiner, they are also eating freelined pilchards and sardines. Use a light fluorocarbon leader as tarpon can be tricky to fool. A few schools of nice-sized jack crevalle have been reported inshore this week around the Intracoastal Waterway and backwaters of West Palm Beach."

🎣 Daytona Beach Fishing Report 🐟 Flounder invading all waters as snook season opens Summer angling season coming to an end "Flounder is the primary catch right now. And this quick reminder -- snook season opened on Tuesday. In order to bring home a keeper (28 to 32 inches), you must get a $10.50 snook permit from the state.  SURF, PIERS: Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com) said the beaches are producing whiting, pompano, jacks and a good number of sharks. “The Hammock Beach (Flagler) surf to Marineland is producing a good red, drum, trout, and snook bite around the rocks,” he said. “These fish are best targeted at low tide and with river tackle so you can work around and tight along the rocks.”

🎣 St Augustine FISHING REPORT 🐟 Crustacean Nation's circling the wagons"The croaker bite up around Green Cove Springs is full on now as well. One gentleman brought in an ice chest with 52 in it. These were caught in the channel north of the Shands Bridge, but anywhere along that drop ought to work for you. The channel is easy to follow because of the marker buoys. The St. Augustine Inlet has been a good bet when the winds lay down. Spanish mackerel are making forays into and out of the inlet, along with flounder, jacks, bluefish, mangrove snapper and black drum."

🎣 Juno Bait Labor Day Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (9/4-9/7/2020) "SURF/PIER-  Little bit of east wind should help stir the surf up just a little bit and get the fish biting!  It''s a bit early, but a east wind like this could (if it doesn't blow in too much seaweed) could trigger a little pompano bite.  Snook are still along the beach, and after this full moon will be largely done spewing and ready to eat!  Still no solid numbers yet, but expect to start seeing some mullet pods coming down the beach very soon.  When the early mullet show...the tarpon and snook won't be far behind.  The Juno Beach Pier has been producing a nice number of snook since the start of season.  A live croaker or sand perch will be top bait for them.  Snapper have also been biting pretty good at the pier as well.  Live shrimp or chunks of sardine seem to be good bait choices for the snapper.  Lots of blue runners around the pier for those looking for fast action."

🎣 Jacksonville Fishing Report 🐟 Labor Day plans should include flounder and reds "Here’s a little good news we all could use right now: We’ve got good weather and a hot bite on deck for the long weekend. There could be a window to run offshore if the current forecast holds, although the full moon could make for some ripping currents out there. If you can’t make it to deep water, consider a flounder or redfish trip in the river as opposed to hitting the nearshore reefs, which have been inconsistent as of late. A trip to the beach could be fun as well, thanks to a consistent presence of mullet in the surf. The wind between the beach and the break shouldn’t break 10 knots until we get back to work, although there should be a three-to-four foot groundswell rolling in the ocean past 20 nautical miles, according to the NOAA forecast. Saturday is the exception, with the forecast calling for three-foot swell at nine seconds."

🎣 September 4 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟  "The fishin’s good, the breezy weather is getting better, and here comes a long weekend. It’s time to wet a line. September sometimes finds snook on the lethargic side, after spawning chores, but the bite remains good in the bays. In fact, the bite has been grand-slam good for some anglers who also are finding good numbers of redfish and juvenile tarpon, plus a few big trout."

The mangrove bite has been steady with a few big fish around at night live bait has produced the best. The sail bite is still steady to the north around St. Lucie inlet with live bait with a few cobia around. The kingfish bite has been ok with a bunch of 10 to 12lb fish around. Inshore the snook bite has been ok in the inlet and around the bridges with live bait remember its catch and release till September 1st. The beach fishing has been good with the glass minnows around find the bait and you will find the snook and tarpon with a few big tarpon around. The snapper bite has been steady in the river to with live shrimp and white baits."

🎣 Week of July 13 Sebastian Inlet District 🐟 Spanish Mackerel, Mangrove Snapper, and Red Drum around "Anglers tell us there have been a lot of Spanish Mackerel out there, mainly around the jetties.  Use your little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures to target them. We hear there has also been some good action with Mangrove Snapper.  You’ll find these guys throughout the inlet system and backwaters so try fishing the different areas in Sebastian Inlet State Park.  Best bait to use to use, live shrimp. Tommy tells us there’s also been Red Drum, Jacks and some Pompano around.  He’s even seen a few big Permit come over the rails of the North Jetty, hitting on large, live shrimp that can be more difficult to find this time of year. Red Drum are hitting on live shrimp too, same for the Permit or crab if you can find it.  Jacks prefer live bait and Pompano love sand fleas.  Seems like incoming tide in the afternoon has been ideal, but the fishing has been good on the outgoing tide in the morning as well.  Go see Tommy at Sebastian Inlet Bait & Tackle and he’ll get you all set up.  Plus he’ll give you the latest on the action at the different fishing spots at the inlet."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 7-15-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Summertime’s weather pattern is in full effect, with calm conditions in the morning, giving way to thunderstorms in the afternoon. The surf fishing has been good for Snook, with plenty of activity even in the middle of the day. Small Hogy Paddle Tails, DOA CALs, plugs, jigs, and flies have all been effective. Most of the bait on the beaches has been Pilchards and Threadfin Herring ( greenies ). Sharks have also been pretty active, Tarpon activity has been sporadic. The Indian River has also been an early morning activity, with midday water temps making things a bit slow. Some nicer Redfish and some Seatrout activity has rewarded those on the water early. Offshore, Mangrove Snapper fishing has been good, and the Kingfish bite has been steady north of Fort Pierce Inlet. Sailfish have been caught in the Stuart area regularly as of late. Snook fishing at the inlets has been so so of late, but the stronger tides coming with the new moon may spur some activity. Good luck out there!"

🎣 Daytona Beach News Journal Fishing Report: Right now, it’s all about red snapper 🐟 "SURF, PIERS: Lytwyn said surf fishing has become spotty. “Mostly whiting and occasional small shark,” he said. “Piers are holding a couple of black drum and redfish along with a few flounder back underneath the pilings.” Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com) reporting from Palm Coast said the pier was the focus of fishing in Flagler. “The Flagler Beach Pier is producing drum, redfish, whiting, trout and a few kings,” he said, adding those getting their feet wet fishing off the sand were nabbing whiting, occasional pompano, small sharks, trout, flounder and black drum."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 Palm Beach Post July 16, 2020 "There have also been snook along the beaches and up into the Loxahatchee River. In the river, working the docks and seawalls with a top water plug is working, while along the beaches live bait or lures resembling bait are proving effective. Along the beaches on Jupiter Island and north there have been a few tarpon. At the Boynton Inlet, there have been tons of snook and some huge tarpon just off the north jetty in the clear water during the incoming tide. Tarpon have also been rolling in the channel inside the inlet in the Intracoastal Waterway. Surf anglers are catching barracuda, snook, tarpon and palometa in the early mornings between the Boynton Inlet and the Lake Worth Pier. Cut shrimp on pompano rigs is working for the palometa, one- to three-ounce Gator or Krocodile spoons for the snook and tarpon and red or green Tube lures are working for barracuda. Anglers around the Lantana Bridge have been catching a few sand perch, small mangrove snapper and catfish on shrimp."

🎣 Florida mask mandate 🐟 All lobster divers will wear them during mini-season, July 29-30  "At least tens of thousands of Floridians and visitors will wear a scuba or snorkel mask July 29-30. That's because it's spiny lobster sport season in Florida waters. Dollars to donuts, whoever wants to harvest a lobster will probably wear an underwater mask. And there won't be any griping. It will be one of the few times since March that tens of thousands of Floridians and visitors will be in agreement. Another bonus will be fewer protests and sign waving on street corners. Many will flock to boat ramps to get offshore to find their limit of bugs."

🎣 St Augustine FISHING REPORT 🐟 Signs look good for shrimp season Atlantic Florida East Coast Fishing: "The kingfish and sharks are on the local wrecks and reefs, but pogies are so scarce it’s tough to get them up to bite. One captain told me yesterday he tossed the net in Salt Run for more than two hours and finally headed out to fish with eight live mullet. Another reported running all the way up to the Jacksonville Pier and not seeing a pogy pod. Just got an update from a Jax charter captain who said pogy pods were thick in 20 feet of water off the old Sea Turtle, if you’re heading north. At any rate, if you really need to fish offshore this weekend it would be a good one to miss, with the Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament underway. I can’t imagine what it’s like out there today with that and the snapper opening together. Surf fishing is summertime slow. It’s uber-weird, but there are still reports of legal pompano being caught in the surf here and there. The pomps like water temperatures in the high 60 or low 70s and the surf temperature was 85 yesterday. A few whiting are being caught along with ladyfish, catfish and baby sharks. The shrimp boats are providing most of the action for both sharks and tarpon. Their bycatch becomes a floating cafeteria of dead fish and other critters and is a siren’s song for both species. The action is pretty fast, and blackfin tuna are nothing to sneeze at when bled well and thrown on a hot grill."

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (7/17-7/19/2020)  "Surf, Pier: Catch and release snook fishing remains Overall its tough fishing inshore right now.  very good along the beach, at the Juno Beach Pier, and in both Palm Beach and Jupiter Inlet right now.  Lots of different (from heavy tackle live bait battles, light tackle sight fishing, and plenty of ways in between) ways to catch them right now, so feel free to come by the shop and get the rundown on some of your different options.  Look for the snook to be most active early in the morning, late afternoon, or at night.  If you have to fish during the day, try and time it with the last of the incoming or first of the outgoing tide.  The surf has been producing a few big jacks early in the morning, but not huge numbers of them.  Still a fair number of tarpon around, but not as many as they are seeing up north.  Fair number of croaker and sandperch hanging around in the first trough.  Scattering of Spanish Mackerel around over the past week."

"This week’s Jacksonville Fishing Report features results from the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament undercard events, a recap of red snapper season, and encouraging news about inshore fishing. Thanks to the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament and our brief red snapper season, offshore fishing has been getting a lot of attention lately. But despite those oceanic distractions and the hellish heat, there’s been a great inshore bite this week. Black drum, flounder and trout have been providing the best action, although the redfish aren’t far behind. The key during the summer is to get out early and look for fish in deeper water once the sun comes up. Last weekend might have been the busiest of the year, and the next few days should rival the turnout. Thursday is the first day of the Great Jacksonville Kingfish General Tournament, and Friday will be both final day of that contest and this year’s four-day red snapper season. The weekend forecast calls for a steady, yet reasonable easterly wind to blow until we return to work Monday. The ocean should stay tame enough, although the wave period will grow shorter - choppier, in other words - as the weekend progresses."

🎣 July 17 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 Here a snook, there a snook, everywhere a snook nook: Catch 'em now from back country creeks to bay flats, to nearshore reefs and wrecks.  "LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Roland Martin Marina Capt. Jose Betancourt may have enjoyed watching Logan Grandio laugh and scream through a morning filled with bass and bluegills as the Tennessee youngster had catching them. They started throwing frog baits and watermelon/red Flukes on the East Wall for bass, and ended up casting Beetlespins for bream along Observation Shoal. Bradley Lytle of Roland Martin's Marine Center in Clewiston also reports good bass fishing along the Shoal, on the north shore in the Tin House Cove area, and in Pelican Bay near Belle Glade. For bluegills dunk crickets or throw tiny spinnerbaits on ultralight spin around Rim Canal lily pads or along reed lines on the Shoal."

The kingfish bite has been steady to the north with a bunch of small fish with a few good ones mixed in. The snapper bite has been ok during the day and at night with some nice mangroves around with both live and dead bait. Looks like the weather will be good the next few days hopefully you can get out before the storms. Inshore the trout bite has been steady around first light with a few reds mixed in soft baits and top water have produce well. The snook bite has been good in the inlet and the bridges on the outgoing tide remember season is closed so its catch and release till September."

"Tommy at Sebastian Inlet Bait & Tackle tells the fishing has really picked up.  Mangrove Snapper are running throughout the inlet and in the backwaters hitting on their favorite bait, live shrimp.  You have your choice of fishing spots at the Park to target these guys from land. Spanish Mackerel have been running pretty good too we hear.  They are biting on little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures.  Your best bet – try the North and South jetties. We have been getting reports of massive Red Drum, again throughout the inlet system, with a few smaller keepers in between.  Use live shrimp here too and please remember your bag and size limits."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 7-8-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "The calm conditions continue, with early morning west winds making the surf look like a lake. Bait on the beaches includes Pilchards, Threadfin Herring ( greenies ), glass minnows, and croakers. Snook activity is picking up in many places, with some really solid fish being caught. Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, sharks, and Tarpon are also getting in on the action. Inshore, the afternoon rains and heat have combined to make much of the water dirty, but Snook and baby Tarpon are being caught around culverts and outflows, but fish early or late to avoid the heat. Offshore, Sailfish activity has been about as good as its been all year, with some good numbers being put up by several boats, on both live bait and trolled ballyhoo. The inlets continue to produce good Snook catches, but remember that the season is closed."

🎣 Daytona Beach News Journal Fishing Report 🐟 Locals bring in big hauls as summer heats up  "The fish are biting up and down the coast, and locals can’t reel them in fast enough. Surf Piers: Roy Mattson (royssurffishing.com) said they’ve been seeing smaller pompano along the beach, redfish in the inlet, and flounder along the reef and pier. Capt. Mike Vickers, meanwhile, filed this report from Flagler. “The surf from Flagler beach to Matanzas inlet has been producing good numbers of whiting, a few flounder, trout, black drum, reds, and tarpon.”

🎣 Florida Today Red snapper season 🐟 Florida's east coast anglers need to know 2 new federal regulations  "Red snapper season will be short and sweet along the U.S. Atlantic Coast this year — just four days. Anglers can keep the popular fish on July 10, 11, 12 and 17 before being relegated back to releasing the red snapper they catch. Any angler who has fished for them during such brief seasons over the past 10 years is aware of the typical regulations in federal waters, which begin three miles offshore: No size limit Bag limit of one red snapper per angler per day Non-stainless steel circle hooks (offset or non-offset) required when using hook-and-line gear with natural baits in waters north of 28 degrees north latitude. The 28th parallel north runs through Palm Bay, Florida. The regulations were designed so anglers would not fish an entire school trying to catch the biggest one. The idea is to catch one red snapper per angler, then go fish for another species somewhere else"

🎣 Jacksonville Fishing Report 🐟 Red snapper season is (almost) here. "In this week’s Jacksonville Fishing Report, read about what you need to know heading into this year’s red snapper season. The circus returns to Mayport on Friday, the long-awaited opener of this year’s four-day red snapper season. The season runs from July 10th to July 12 and will reopen for the final day on July 17. You’re now required to register for a free State Reef Fish Angler endorsement from FWC if you will be bottom fishing. And starting July 15, bottom anglers will also be required to have a descending device on their boat. Snapper have been abundant on local reefs this summer, even on the public inshore numbers. The hard part will be finding a parking spot at the boat ramps, even for boaters not participating in the highly popular season. If your boat doesn’t live at a marina, you better wake up early this weekend. Surf anglers have been catching lots of big whiting and a few nice pompano during the last week, said Spencer Brogden. It can be easy to overlook surf fishing during the summer, but last week proved you don’t have to go far to fill the cooler."

🎣 St Augustine FISHING REPORT 🐟 Snapper madness on tap for the weekend "The Atlantic Of course the big news here is the opening of a four-day red snapper season starting today. It runs today, Saturday and Sunday and one extra day July 17 — next Friday.
If you wonder why we have only four days a year to target red snapper, join the club. It should be noted here that Florida’s Gulf Coast will enjoy a 45-day season this year. The fish stocks are similar, but the Gulf waters are ruled by a different federal group than the Atlantic. That’s really just the beginning of the idiocy handed down by our South Atlantic Fish Management Council (and oxymoron if ever there was one). They’ve also come up with some new regulations for this year’s snapper season, but have done little to advertise the brand-spankin’ new rules thus far. They might be better termed “traps.”" Worth your time to visit the link to St Augustine to read the breakdown of traps. They list a make believe line around Palm Beach needing to fish only non stainless offset circle hooks on private boats. 🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (7/10-7/12/2020) "Surf Pier-  The main game in town right now along the beach and at the pier will be snook.  For the most part live croakers and sandperch will be the best bet for the snook (especially the bigger ones).  Don't overlook a chunk of dead bait as an option for the snook as well.  If your into throwing lures for the snook a small paddletail or bucktail jig is good during the day.  At night throw bigger swimbaits and flair hawk jigs for best results.  North of Jupiter Inlet the tarpon are still around in good numbers.  They are still hanging around the minnow schools for the most part and remain locked on smaller baits.  Hogy paddletails remain a great lure choice around the minnow schools.  A handful of Spanish Mackerel around, as well as good numbers of blue runners in the surf as well."

🎣 July 10 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 It's hot, to no one's surprise. Somewhat surprisingly, the extreme heat and lack of rain haven't put the big chill on fishing prospects "LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Roland Martin's Marine Center in Clewiston reports bass biting well along Observation Shoal, around  Tin House Cove on the north shore, and in Pelican Bay at the Big O's southeast corner. Fish Kissimmeegrass and reed lines early with white or clear Spooks, and go to watermelon red, junebug or black/blue flake Senkos or Speed Worms as the sun rises. Swimbaits in Houdini, Lane Toad and White Lightning patterns also have been productive. Then again, nothing beats a live wild shiner, as Kansan Hunter Leonard found out on his trip with Roland Martin Marina Capt. Mark King. "Fishing has been pretty good on the North and South jetties, in the inlet channel and around the western flood shoals.  Reports of large Redfish have been streaming in.  Use your live shrimp to target them as a favorite bait and remember your FWC bag and size limits.
Anglers have also reported catching Mangrove Snapper, Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel.  You’ll find the Mangrove Snapper migrating throughout the inlet and in the backwaters biting on live shrimp.  Try the jetties for targeting Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel.  Cut bait is the way to go for both or use your silver spoons for the Bluefish and your Gotcha lures for the Spanish Mackerel. We hear that schools of large Tarpon have been running the beach, hitting on live bait, swim bait, plugs and spoons.  You’ll find some Jacks mixed in too."

The snapper bite has been good on 60 to 80ft with a few fish over 10lbs around with a few decent grouper around . The weather looks good the next few days so hopefully you can make it out. The beach fishing has been good with a few tarpon and big jack in the bait schools to the south of Ft Pierce with a few small kings mixed in. Inshore the trout and red bite has been steady around first light to the north around harbor branch to Vero shores with a soft baits and top water. The snapper bite around the bridge and channel edges."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 7-1-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Surf fishing for Snook, Spanish Mackerel, Tarpon, Jack Crevalle, and Ladyfish has been good, but there will be beach closures starting Friday in Martin and St. Lucie counties for the weekend, and Vero Beach beaches will be limited to only residents. If you are heading out before that, take plenty of Hogy Paddle Tails or similar, and spoons and jigs for the Spanish. Seatrout fishing in the Indian River continues to be good, but the bite is early and over. Some larger Snook are still around as well, along with the occasional Redfish. Fort Pierce Inlet State Park will also be closed this weekend. Sebastian has been producing good number of Snook, but remember it’s closed season. Offshore has been very slow, with only some smaller Dolphin around 200′ of water, and fairly sparse. Be safe out there this weekend, and good luck!"

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 July 2, 2020 Palm Beach Post "Along the beaches in the Jensen area, there have been lots of tarpon rolling and busting while chasing glass minnows. There have also been big schools of jack crevalle on the prowl. Use a topwater lure, something big and noisy, like a Zara Spook, and work it fast to get there attention. After that hold on tight. The bridges spanning the St. Lucie and Indian Rivers have been a bit slow recently as the water is a little funky. That said, there have been a few black drum caught at the quarter bridge. Along the beaches in Jupiter, there have also been good numbers of tarpon chasing glass minnows. The Jupiter beaches are also seeing large numbers of snook. Though there are plenty at, and in, the inlet and in the Loxahatchee River, there seem to be a lot on the beaches this year. If you’re looking to catch a few walk the beaches and try one of the LIVETARGET lures that resemble local baitfish. Then cast into the trough and bring it in slowly, right up to your feet. Most of the fish are being caught within 30 feet of shore. There has been good action for croaker and whiting along the Jupiter beaches using small pieces of shrimp in the first trough. Anglers fishing the Boynton Inlet have been catching snook, tarpon, Cubera snapper, permit and black tip sharks."

Gene Lytwyn filed this report from The Fishin’ Hole in downtown Daytona Beach. “Surf fishing is producing some whiting, along with a stray bluefish, pompano and bonnet head shark,” he said. “Fishing pompano rigs, baited with shrimp or Fishbites, during an incoming tide cycle, is usually best.” Roy Mattson (royssurffishing.com) said Flagler Beach Pier anglers are still waiting for a kingfish run. In the meantime, they are catching flounder, black drum, spadefish and pompano. Mattson said the tackle of choice right now is a banana rig. Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com) said Flagler County is seeing whiting, sharks, black drum, some flounder and a few pompano and trout."

🎣 FISHING REPORT St Augustine 🐟 Feds tag 4-day red snapper season "It’s been wide open on the beaches and local reefs and wrecks for king mackerel this week. But if you want to be certain to find fish, head out and get behind a shrimp boat. This is about the worst month in years for finding pogy pods — other than in Salt Run. One charter captain figures the shrimp boats are the only game in town for hungry kingfish, tarpon and sharks. The boats are shoveling bycatch off the decks and the fish are following behind. Captain Guy Spear reports a 50-pound kingfish caught on a spinning reel with dead squid on a trip out Thursday. But the tarpon are thicker than most all the charter guys have seen in years — or ever. It’s just crazy out there. And while we’re on the subject of crazy, let’s talk about federal red snapper management. They announced this week a four-day red snapper season set for June 10-12 and July 17. It will be the usual one fish per person per day and there are no upper or lower slot limits. That will again ensure anglers will understandably target only the big sow snapper over 20 pounds. These are the fish that will lay as many as 75 million eggs a season — or 4 billion eggs in a lifetime. If that’s called a fishery management plan..."

"LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Roland Martin Marina manager Ramon Iglesias reports great summer bassing, but "The summer heat will definitely play a factor, so the morning bite is the best bite." He sent in a shot of Jess, Louie and Joe Bartoletti from Chicago with a summertime whopper that took a wild shiner on an outside grass line in Pelican Bay, with Capt. Bo White. Over at Roland Martin Marine Center, Brad Lytle reports bass have been biting around the East and West Wall areas out of Clewiston, north along Observation Shoal, and in the Tin House Cove area on the north shore. The drill is to start with a white or clear Spook (zig-zagging topwater) and switch to soft plastic as the sun rises. Six-inch Senkos, Speed Worms, swimbaits have been good in watermelon red, junebug, black/blue flake, Houdini, Copperfield, Lane Toad and White Lightning, and swim jigs in bluegill patterns have been productive. Bluegill have been biting on crickets and Beetlespins along the Shoal, around Rim Canal lily pad patches, and at Ritta Island."

Live shrimp seem to be the favorite bait for targeting Mangrove Snapper.  Red Drum will hit on those too off the North Jetty, and don’t forget the catwalks and T-dock, particularly during the tide change.  Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish both hit on cut bait, and use your silver spoons for Bluefish and Gotcha lures for Spanish Mackerel."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 6-24-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "Summer is here in full force, with heat index numbers over 100 degrees in the afternoons, so be safe out there and drink plenty of water. The beaches have been the bright spot of late, with plenty of glass minnows showing up, and Spanish Mackerel, Snook, Jack Crevalle, and some Tarpon have been around with them. Hogy Paddle Tails and other swimbaits have been most effective. but spoons and plugs have also been good. Much of the action has been south of Fort Pierce Inlet. Offshore has been pretty quiet, with some smaller Kingfish in the 70-80 foot range being the only bright spot. Seatrout have been active early, including on topwater plugs, but the heat thru the day has made most other things hit and miss. Good luck out there!"

🎣 Jacksonville Fishing Report 🐟 Kingfish bite remains strong  "When it gets hot in Mayport, it’s hard not to catch fish. There’s just no guarantee you’ll catch anything worth the trouble of cleaning. Sharks, tarpon, ladyfish and big jacks are in the river and inlet, giving anglers the chance to catch world-class caliber game fish without straying far from the boat ramp. The kingfish bite remains strong ahead of this weekend’s Kingbuster tournament, although the pogie pods vanished."

SURF, PIERS: Gene Lytwyn at The Fishin’ Hole said his customers report whiting in the surf. Roy Mattson (royssurffishing.com) goes fishing everywhere from Jacksonville to Melbourne. He said the big catch from the piers and along the beach includes black drum, pompano and redfish. Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com) said the waters along the Flagler coast are holding whiting, flounder, plus a few pompano and sharks"

🎣 St Augustine Fishing Report 🐟 FISHING REPORT | Kingfish thick on local bottom "The offshore trolling has pretty much come to an end for mahi and wahoo. The easy way to remember this is that Father’s Day is usually the last of the striking fish for a while - other than big barracuda and some kingfish. The local reefs and wrecks are covered in king mackerel. Most of the fish are in the 15 pound range, though some 20-plus pounders are being caught. The bonito are a little bit of a distraction,but the scourge of sharks has yet to show up. Last summer you could count on sharks eating more hooked kingfish than the anglers chasing them. Pogies have been tough to find either north or south of the inlet here. There’s bait on the local reefs and wrecks for sabiki rigs. The tarpon are showing up around and inside the inlets. They are also behind the shrimp boats dumping bycatch after a drag. There were a couple of hookups reported off Matanzas Inlet Thursday. Surf fishing continues to be slow. There are a few undersized pompano being caught. They prefer water in the high 60s and surf temperatures are in the low 80s now. Whiting continue to be tough to target. And if you do find them, many are small, fewer are decent and fewer still are what we’d call bull whiting. I don’t know where they’ve all gone over the past few years, but the fishery is ailing for sure."

🎣 Ed Killer TCPalm Fishing Report 🐟 As glass minnows move along, look for tarpon, kingfish and sailfish to be near other bait "It's summertime on the Treasure Coast and the fishing patterns are pretty much in line with the weather patterns. On any given day, there can be plenty of fun and on given day there can plenty of lightning. So be careful and watch those afternoon storms. Offshore, anglers may find dolphin scarce, but a few will be caught. Snapper fishing will be pretty good providing a coldwater upwelling does not begin. Kingfish are in 25-100 feet of water around small reefs where there are schools of bait holding. On the beach, snook, croaker and whiting will be caught. Remember, snook are catch and release until Sept. 1"

🎣 Juno Bait Fishing Report 🐟 Weekend Fishing Outlook (6/26-6/28/2020) "SURF/PIER The glass minnow schools remain scattered up and down the beach, and the fish aren't far behind.  Snook, tarpon, jacks, blue runners, and others are all taking advantage of the easy meals.  Small flashy jigs, spoons, swimbaits, and small swimming plugs are all a good way to go around the minnow schools.  The Juno Beach Pier continues to produce good catch and release snook action, as does Jupiter Inlet.  The snook are also along the beach in very good numbers right now.  Calm clear conditions provide for good chance to sight fish some big ones cruising in the first trough."

🎣 June 26 fishing report from Byron Stout 🐟 Almost breezeless days may be making it hot in the city. But the calm waters offshore have been on fire for fishermen! "LAKE OKEECHOBEE: This time of year, hordes of South Carolina anglers come to the Big O for crickets, and usually leave with plug-in freezers packed with bluegills. But Cole Hawkins showed palmetto state anglers know something about catching big bass on artificials, too. He caught a pair of 7-pounders early on a Poppin' Frog, and then switched to Senkos and swim jigs for 3- to 5-pounders that would have been good for a winter-like tournament sack of 30 pounds. He was fishing Sunday along Observation Shoal with Capt. Jose Betancourt out of Roland Martin's Marina. Roland Martin's Marine Center in Clewiston reports bass also biting well along Kissimmeegrass and reed lines around Ritta Island and on the East and West Wall areas. Topwaters early, and swimbaits including EZ Swimmers and Big EZs by Gambler, and Reaction Innovations Skinny Dippers have been hot later in Houdini, Copperfied, Lane Toad and Killer G colors. Swim jigs in bluegill patterns also have been good. Crickets, red worms, and Beetlespin lures have been good for bluegills along Observation Shoal, the West Wall, and Ritta."

There where a few nice wahoo around first light in 120 to 160ft to the south. The king fish bite was slow with some fish around in 60 to 80ft hopefully the water cleans up and the fish will move back into the beach. Inshore the trout bite was good around round island with a few redfish mixed . The inlet and bridges have had a few nice snook around on live bait. The tarpon bite has been good around the power plant to Walton rocks with a few snook mixed in find the bait and you will find the fish. We just got some new color Xtratuf boots in Blue, Black, White in ladies we have Seafoam and Blue with neon pink so stop on in and check them out."

The action has been decent, not great, with some mixed reports.  Mangrove Snapper have been hitting on live shrimp and fisherman out on the North Jetty have been bringing in Red Drum, Bluefish, Blue Runners and Spanish Mackerel.  We’ve heard reports of Snook biting too, but remember they are out of season and catch and releasee only until September 1."

🎣 White's Tackle Fishing Report 6-17-2020 🐟 Stuart Florida "We’ve got a bit nicer conditions for a bit, so hopefully you can take advantage. In the Indian River, the early morning Seatrout bite has been good, with topwater plugs such as Zara Spooks or Rapala Skitterwalks working well early, along with soft plastics as the sun gets higher. There have also been a fair amount of Redfish mixed in. The surf has improved, with much of the seaweed having been deposited onshore, and with lighter winds producing calmer conditions. Snook, Ladyfish, Spanish Mackerel, Tarpon, and the occasional Kingfish are working the bait schools up and down the Treasure Coast. Hogy Paddle Tails, spoons, suspending plugs, and jigs are all working. The inlets are producing Snook at night, but remember that the season is closed. Offshore, there have been decent numbers of smaller Kingfish caught, as well as some larger Wahoo in close as well."

🎣 South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 June 18, 2020 Along the beaches in the Jensen area there is an excellent bite for whiting and croaker. Bloodworm Fishbites or frozen shrimp in the first trough will produce the best results. There are also still some pompano around. Again bring the bigger rods to get baits including sandflea Fishbites and live sandfleas out a ways as they are staying a bit farther off the beach. There has been a nice tarpon bite inside the Lake Worth Inlet the past week. Using live bait in the early mornings and late afternoons has been producing good results. Anglers fishing off the jetties at the Boynton Inlet are catching mangrove snapper, grunts, snook, tarpon and jack crevalle using live shrimp, live sardines and cut finger mullet. Working the beaches around the inlet using cut shrimp has produced catches of small permit, whiting and croaker. Along the flats in the Intracoastal Waterway near the Boynton Inlet small permit up to eight pounds are hitting jigs tipped with shrimp during the first two hours of the incoming tides. At the Lantana Bridge anglers are catching sheepshead on cut clams and live crabs. Sand perch, small jack crevalle and mangrove snapper have been hitting live shrimp and peeled frozen shrimp fished on the bottom."

🎣 Fishing Report: Daytona Beach bottom fishing booming 🐟 "Surf/Piers: Gene Lytwyn at The Fishin’ Hole said the catch is easing up along the beach. “Surf fishing has slowed up a bit,” he said. “Mostly whiting, small sharks and spots are being caught. Stick with the traditional pompano rig baited with shrimp, sand fleas or Fishbites.” Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com) offered this report from Flagler. “The surf has been producing with scattered reports of pompano mixed with some redfish, black drum and whiting,” Vickers said. “The Flagler Beach Pier is open with a limited capacity and limited hours, with catches of flounder, black drum and kingfish.”

Whiting reubens, if you never had one, are awesome. There have also been schools of glass minnows, or anchovies, in the trough. Everything that swims have been tearing them up from tarpon to jacks to blue runners to Spanish mackerel and bluefish. Cast small silver spoons or diamond jigs to get bites."

🎣 Juno Bait Weekend Fishing Outlook 🐟 (6/19-6/21/2020) "SURF/PIER:  The past few days has saw  the water from Jupiter Inlet south looking pretty dirty and brown (Lots of fresh water in it).  Water to the north of Jupiter Inlet has looked better and the fish have noticed.  While the Juno Beach Pier has still been producing some Spanish Mackerel, jacks, and fair amount of snook.  The bulk of the action has moved up to the north.  Jupiter Island and Hobe Sound  beaches have had a lot of very large glass minnow schools, and lots of predators close behind.  Bonita, jacks, snook, tarpon, and even a few random late season bluefish have all been in the minnow schools up to the north.  A small flashy jig or spoon, small swimbait, or swimming plug are all good choices for fishing around the minnow schools.  Pompano reports slowed this week, but sounds like a handful of them are still being caught up to the north."

Which is not to say inshore fishing is anything less than great. LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Roland Martin's Marina Capt. Mark King reports bass biting "pretty good" in the lake's rising waters, up almost a foot, to 12.19 feet above sea level, as the Kissimmee River (85 percent of inflows) and other tributaries run off."

The bottom bite has slowed down with the rough weather but should pick back up soon. The weather looks good the next few days so hopefully you can get out. Inshore over the weekend the trout and red bite was steady to the north around Vero shores to round island with a few big snook mixed in. The inlet and bridges have had a few flounder around with live shrimp and live bait. The snook bite has been good in the inlet but please remember its catch and release season is closed."

🎣 Week of June 8 🐟 Anglers Waiting for a Break in the Weather… "Our friend Tommy has seen more Mangrove Snapper around as you’d expect heading into the summer season.  Use live shrimp to target them. He’s still seeing some nice Pompano here and there, hitting on clams and sandfleas, and anglers are bringing in Red Drum, Spanish Mackerel, and Bluefish on the North Jetty.  Cut bait works well for Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish, or you can try silver spoons for Bluefish and Gotcha lures for the Spanish Mackerel.  Blue Runners were running day before yesterday and they will hit on a variety of baits.  Try dead shrimp or smaller jigs."

🎣 Palm Beach Post South Florida Weekly Fishing Report 🐟 June 11, 2020 "Along the beaches in the Jensen area there has been a good pompano bite the past week. Not huge numbers, but nice-sized fish. Bring the big, 12-foot rods if you have them as they are not in the first trough but a ways out. They are most likely avoiding the spinner sharks that are cruising the beaches the past week. The pompano are being caught on crab- and sandflea-flavored Fishbites. The spinner sharks are following the schools of glass minnows which started showing up last week and are now in the area in force. At the Roosevelt and Stuart Causeways there has been some excellent snook action. There have some big ones that are likely feeding before the spawn. Use big swim baits or jigs like a flare hawk as they are hugging the bottom some because of the freshwater up near the surface.
Working the beaches from Jupiter Inlet to the Juno Pier, anglers are catching snook on lures resembling sardines or using live pilchards, croaker or sand perch. In the Loxahatchee River, snook and jack crevalle are being caught around the dock lights. Boynton Inlet anglers have been catching croaker, whiting and sand perch using cut shrimp. Snook, snapper and tarpon have been hitting live shrimp and pilchards fished on the bottom. At the Lantana Bridge, anglers have been catching sheepshead, small permit, sand perch and croaker using cut and live shrimp."

🎣 Daytona News Journal Fishing Report 🐟 Snook catch goes from mild to wild "The snook catch is getting all the attention just as the highly-sought game fish goes out of season. SURF, PIERS: Gene Lytwyn at The Fishin’ Hole said the primary catch from the surf and piers is whiting. “Surf fishing is moving into a summertime pattern, with mostly whiting being caught along with several spots, small bonnet head sharks and an occasional pompano,” he said. “Fishing early or late with pompano rigs and dead shrimp or Fishbites will do the trick.” Farther north Capt. Mike Vickers Jr. (hammockbaitandtackle.com) reports the surf has been giving up pompano mixed with some redfish, black drum and snook. “The Flagler Beach Pier is open with a limited capacity,” Vickers said. “They are catching flounder, black drum and sheepshead.”

🎣 FLORIDA TODAY fishing report 🐟 Tarpon will bend rods and snook can be caught, too. "It's been rainy, but big tarpon can be caught along the beaches while smaller ones are in the lagoon. Snook fishing is good, too, but are all release. Florida Today. Heavy rains have produced plenty of runoff. Salinity levels have dropped in many places of the Indian River Lagoon and surrounding waterways. It's meant anglers have had to fish a little differently. Tarpon and snook are being caught because they could care less. Redfish and black drum are also being caught inshore. Along the beaches, there have been glass minnows moving north. To fish, glass minnows are like candy, so everything that swims has been in them."

🎣 June 12 Fishing Report from Byron Stout 🐟 "Runoff from soaking rains over the past week have darkened local waters a bit, but the fishing outlook couldn't be brighter. Winds shouldn't be too bad this weekend for jaunts way offshore for red snapper. This year's 45-day season for recreational boats started Thursday morning. Tarpon and snook remain abundant right along the beaches, where we got a good mangrove snapper report this week. And somebody needs to tell the big bass they don't get caught in June, in South Florida." They haven't heard. LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Ramon Iglesias at Roland Martin's Marina in Clewiston reports "The water has risen over a foot in the last 10 days, and the bass are liking it." Best bets still are outside grass lines early with spooks or toads; then stick worms and speed worms, or swimbaits, all in dark colors, according to Brad Lytle of Roland Martin's Marine Center. For bass, the East and West Wall areas have been good. Last weekend's full moon had bluegills biting well on crickets, worms, and ultralight spinnerbaits along Observation Shoal, the Clewiston walls and Ritta Island, where they should be a little farther off the reed lines this weekend."
